Realize that I haven't posted for quite a while. This is as good a time as any. A few days ago, I finished this very large shawl that I began last September 2024 in honour of the lunar eclipse that was in October 2024, rather gruesomely named "Blood Moon"! Where I now live, it did not show itself in particular as spectacularly as, for instance, Texas, or other parts of the central United States. In fact, there was really no sign of an eclipse at all -- just a beautiful full moon. Still this is my tribute to the event, event if it is somewhat late.

Realizing that I have not posted some of my FOs for a while, here are my two latest -- both designs are by Boo Knits:

TOP ROW: The top row shows Bev’s “Be With You” that I made up in Shibui Knits Staccato Sock yarn in the “Mulberry” colourway;

BOTTOM ROW: The lower row was an MKAL (”mystery knit-along”) entitled “Moving Forward.” I used a lace-weight cashmere/silk “gradient set” called “Happy-Go-Lucky” from DyeForYarn.

This past year I participated in a “Shawl Challenge” sponsored by Boo-Knits. The idea was to knit at least 11 “Boo” shawls within a year. Prizes were to be awarded to the ones who made the most. I did not come in first, second, or third, but I was one of the random ones drawn to receive an “honorable mention” -- so to speak. What do I say? I can always use another free pattern and skein of beautiful yarn! Shown above are some of the "Boos” I knitted up.

Should have posted this last night, but my “Timeless” shawl (a “Boo-Knits” design) is now completed! The top left scan shows how it looked before blocking, and the top right, while being blocked. Finally, you can see it on “Jezebel” and over just the right dress to complement Bev’s shawl pattern! (Please excuse the can of WD40!) The yarn used was DyeForYarn Fingering Tussah Silk in the “Absinthe” colourway. Although the colour may look somewhat “teal” in the scans, it is really a very beautiful emerald green.

“Have been working mostly on 2 shawls by Boo-Knits: 

UPPER: Just did a little more on the “Heaven Scent” crescent shawl. Have opted for the all-over lace version and am working it in DyeForYarn a fingering weight Tussah Silk yarn in the “Glass Frog” colourway.

LOWER: Am about 1/3rd of the way through the “picot bind-off” (VERY tedious, but hope will be worth it!) on the “Into the Night” shawl. It is being worked up in a skein that was “languishing” in my stash for some time -- “Tosh Lace” by Madelinetosh (who else?) in the “Iris” colourway, a semi-solid of indigo and violet. Not too surprisingly, this yarn has been discontinued -- like all my favourites!

TOP (Left - on Glove Blockers; Right - Modeled by My Daughter):  Hedy Lamarr Fingerless Gloves designed by Tanis Gray, knitted up in Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball Cotton;

CENTER: Chevron Scarf, a free pattern from my LYS, made from the leftovers of the Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball Cotton; and

BOTTOM: Snow Angel Shawl by Boo-Knits, knitted from Hand Maiden Seasilk (also modeled by my lovely daughter)!

Just posting some of my most recent FOs -- both by Boo-Knits:

TOP ROW: Demonstrating the difference blocking can make - before and after!

MIDDLE: Back and front views of finished “Peaseblossom” shawl (”Prairie” by Madelinetosh yarn in the -- sadly and not surprisingly -- discontinued “Logwood” colourway was used); and 

BOTTOM ROW: “Cloverfield Cowl” worked in sport-weight Madelinetosh “Pashmina” (rather than the recommended worsted-weight yarn -- it still worked, just fits a little closer) in the “Pink Clay” colourway. Usually, I don’t care much for cowls, but this was one way to use up a partial skein, and it should make a nice Christmas gift. It was also a way to practice a couple of new stitches: the “basketweave” and the “clover” stitch.

A few Works-In-Progress for Wednesday:

TOP LEFT: Have just started the waistline decreases on what I intend to be a short-sleeved summer top (Susanna IC’s Grace Kelly Sleek Pullover) in Laines Du Nord Mulberry Silk in “chocolate”;

TOP RIGHT: Completed the garter stitch body and am now about to begin the lace edging on Rosemary (Romi) Hill’s Crystal Bay Shawl using Madelinetosh’s Prairie in the “clematis” colorway;

BOTTOM LEFT: I have completed 13″ of what I call my “Herringbone Scarf” but what was called “Evening Scarf” in the now (sadly) out-of-print publication “Classic Knitting Patterns from the British Isles.” It called for a not surprisingly discontinued silk yarn, but I am using “Villa” by Classic Elite Yarns in the “emerald” colorway.

BOTTOM RIGHT: Despite the protests of the designer that she did not want to name her design from her Midsummer Night’s Dream Handmaidens Collection after a moth, ever since I saw a certain pattern, “Thistledown,” by Boo-Knits, I was reminded of a luna moth and have been looking for the pale green which would suggest same. I found the pale green with the “Cliff” colorway in Berroco Folio. While we generally do not want a moth among our fine knits, as far as I know, Luna moths do not bring harm to textiles!
