Should you read “The Great Gatsby?”
This fascinating book, “The Great Gatsby” written by F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of a kind. You must read it, especially when you are interested in classic historical fiction books.
The Great Gatsby is narrated by Nick Carraway. He tells us the story of the wealthy, fabulous, loyal Jay Gatsby. The story starts with Nick introducing himself as the author of the book. Nick is different than all of his neighbours. Eventually he leaves his house to have dinner with his cousin Daisy and her husband Tom Buchanan. The story has a twist when Nick has met Gatsby and when he decides to introduce him to Daisy, on Gatsby’s request. Gatsby and Daisy are lovers from before Gatsby had to fight in the First World War.
The thing I personally loved about the book was that “The Great Gatsby” is written in an I-perspective. The story is narrated through Nick. He only describes his own feelings and what others tell him. This had a huge impact on the book as you never exactly knew what others were feeling.
Another thing that I liked was the description. Fitzgerald described everything flawlessly so that you could get a clear view of the setting, characters and the time. This was amazing as it made me understand the story even better and get to know the characters like they are friends of mine.
“The Great Gatsby” is an one of its kind. The story telling is filled with emotion, heartbreak and happiness. I would highly recommend this book to every adult and teenager who loves to read a classic.
