I've been writing a story and wanted your opinions on whether the concept is good or not. So, the world technology-wise is around the 19th century BUT people are spread across multiple planets using magic. The main character, Bea, is from this very British feeling planet, but hates it. She's a necromancer, everyone is scared, there are rumors, etc, etc. She leaves and ends up on an unfamiliar planet. Eventually she meets this girl who is like, "come with me" and she does . The girl's dads run a theater where they take in runaways from across the universe. One of the girl's dads approaches Bea and is like, "hey I can tell you have magic. I can train you if you want," and Bea's super hesitant but agrees. He ends up being a great mentor, but SHOCK HORROR, goes missing. The rest of the book is them trying to find him, and uncovering weirder and weirder enchantments on the building, and finding that he had SECRETS. It's a story with a lot of queer themes and characters largely inspired by my experience doing theater. Not plot wise, but character interaction wise.
So, what do you think?
