Russians dropping bombs on women and children, russians burning books is not xenophobia - but me highlighting the news is? To the Book Space community, whitewashing russian war crimes matters more than russians BURNING THOUSANDS OF BOOKS. What a hypocrisy. Please share that Book Space community supports russian invasion of Ukraine.

My blog was banned from the “Book Space” community for “being hateful to white people” and a “racist piece of garbage”

Not for violating the terms of joining. Or at least they didn’t say what post violated the terms… personally, I don’t like reading books where people of the GLOBAL majority are erased from REALITY. But I believe in positive reinforcement so I’m recommending books that don’t do this. Be they written by the over represented minority or by Black, Indigenous, or people of culture. I have recommended books written by white authors before and will continue to do so, but I do read more books by BIPOC and will recommend more books by BIPOC.

Banning someone for recommending books by authors of the global majority is actually hateful. And sad. You’re depriving your community of different voices.

If there is more than one mod of that space I would love to talk like an adult. I would also love to recommend the book Conflict is Not Abuse by Sarah Schulman (a white American woman and queer historian).
