4. What does their life look like together today? (Simulation AU)
Kaito is super active! He hits the gym (or physical therapy at first) whenever he can, though if he's still chronically ill (just not dying) he has a horrible habit of overdoing it. So the morning looks like Kaito Maki and Shuichi making smoothies for the gym, going to the gym, working out for a bit, Kaito over doing it, Maki scolding him as Shuichi tries to take care of him. After that, Shuichi works on a detective novel at home (it's his way of coping) while Maki goes to her schooling— her and Shuichi got cash from being DR survivors, so they aren’t super strapped for cash but not by any means wealthy (I imagine DR tries to give them as little money as possible because of the way their season ended; there might have even been a court case)— to become a doctor (she wants to heal, not harm anymore; plus she wants knowledge to better take care of Kaito)— and Kaito goes to his law school (he goes onto become a rival lawyer to Kokichi; they have the same classes together before theyre certificated too; I imagine they have a complicated relationship themselves throughout this all— manifesting as like- Kokichi lowkey also fussing over him in quieter moments and them sharing breaks together and having a kind of unspoken understanding under their bickering) that he takes evening classes at as once hes physically recovered with Shuichi's doting. Maki gets home earlier than Kaito since her classes start earlier and she helps Shuichi on his novel until its dinner time and Shuichi starts cooking (Kaito does their breakfast, Shuichi does their dinner, Maki packs their lunches the day before; Maki's cooking is way more military which Kokichi makes fun of Kaito for; when Shuichi makes lunch in an event of Maki being busy, its super cheesy with octopi hot dogs and heart shapes everywhere... which Kokichi also makes fun of Kaito for. Kokichi what are you doing in this post gtfo of here—). If its not done when Kaito comes back, Kaito helps. They all end the day curled around each other in bed, with them talking for like an hour until they all fall asleep.
6. Do you think they'll have any pets?
Kaito might want a pet (likely a dog; adopted/shelter rescue) but I don't know if he'd be able to take care of one. Shuichi would prefer a cat, and Maki doesn’t want an animal at all. They compromise and get a teeny tiny fish, but Maki insists if they're doing this they're doing this RIGHT, and she does a lot of research on fish, gets the tiny fish a GIANT tank, decorates it with fish safe stuff... and basically becomes a fish mom. She ends up getting a few more fish because her first one was lonely, and she's super passionate about the fish, and Shuichi and Kaito get very mushy on how she didn't even want a pet but now she's the number one fish mom.
11. How long did it take for them to get together?
Maki and Kaito get together fairly quickly after the simulation (Maki confessed in the simulation and so Kaito and Maki try to sort out their relationship to each other post simulator cause of that, immediately upon waking basically) — I think Kaede and Shuichi try to make their situation work first too, but it just fails cause theres so much baggage and they don't actually know each other that well, and Kaito is like, that sucks, and tries super hard to cheer him up, and suddenly he's coming on all their dates and he's moving in and he's. Just there. Always. And Kaito goes, "It's kind of like we're dating Shuichi, too," and Maki goes, "Aren't we?" And Kaito goes "Huh, I guess we are," and they both move on, becoming a throuple in their heads, EXCEPT NEITHER OF THEM INFORM SHUICHI, so shuichi is kind of angsting over liking them, having just gotten over Kaede, and he already liked Kaito from the simulation, and he grew close to maki as survivors, and they all have these profound relationships but obviously theyre dating so theyre meant to be and theres no room for me.... :(
Maki and Kaito kind of realize hes torn up about something and kind of pry it out of him eventually in like an intervention type thing, and shuichi confesses, bracing for the worst, and Kaito goes, "I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING WE FORGOT TO TELL YOU," and Maki goes, "Shuichi we're basically already dating anyway, of course we're going to make it official if you want that," and Shuichi goes huh. All that angsting for nothing. And they end up together forever <3
15. Who was the first person to find out that they're dating?
Kokichi clocked it immediately from Kaito's lunches. Maybe even before they technically were a thing.
Toukomaru:
4. What does their life look like together today?
I know who sent this. And I know they have not seen Danganronpa 3. So I am going to be vague here. But we actually see a bit of Touko and Komaru living together in DR3. I think it's exactly as those little peaks and the end of DR AE suggest— they live together, fighting against despair in Towa City by day, and Komaru stealing Touko's blankets by night. Touko does not let Komaru cook Touko's food cause Touko canonly thinks all of Komaru's favorite foods she tells her are nasty, but Touko is very much not cooking what Komaru likes (I imagine Touko likes somewhat plain food; she had to keep it simple when growing up, cause I figure she probably had to cook for herself more often than not, and didn't get any instructions- she also just prefers plainer foods), so Komaru doesn't eat her food either. They end up just cooking side by side two different dishes as they both tease the other for their choices.
Komaru very much has to bully Touko into the bath, but once they get there they take it together, in a communal type thing (which is more common in japan iirc). Its always a production but it actually is more of a fun game than anything between them. Touko does actually like the bath once she's in it; its just getting in it that she hates, changing states like that.
I also like to imagine that Touko starts writing healthier relationships and more hopeful themes of healing once she meets Komaru. She never shows Komaru any of what shes working on until its finished cause she wants it to be perfect before she sees it. Komaru meanwhile is an amateur manga writer/artist in between saving kids and adults alike, and she shows touko EVERYTHING. when shes making something she cannot stfu about it. I also like to think that eventually Komaru convinces Touko way way way far in the future to collab on a light novel together— but that would be waaay into the future because current Touko would rather die. Sometimes Touko catches herself writing poetry about Komaru absentmindedly and she writes them all down, locks them in a chest, and never ever ever shows anyone, especially Komaru them. Years and years and years into the future Komaru finds out about this and reads all the poetry she wrote her and cries. She insist on writing Touko just as many poems, works really hard on it, and Touko reads them all and thinks they suck, and then cries about how sweet the thought is and keeps them forever. If anyone even looks at these horrible poems wrong she'll have to resist murder.
Komaru on the other hand draws Touko constantly, and Touko hates every drawing, cause its always some anime stuff, but she keeps each picture too. She tries to draw Komaru once and gets so embarrassed she never draws her again, but Komaru frames and hangs up her art proudly.
Komaru braids Touko's hair so it doesn’t tangle each night. Komaru picks flowers at random to put in Touko's hair and Touko critiques their meanings and then drys and presses them into her note books and uses them as book marks.
Once Touko broke a pen and Komaru protested throwing it out because she wanted to keep everything of Touko's. Touko called her a pervert and then got her a scrapbook to take photos of things instead of collecting them. Komaru's scrapbook has a ton of random photos of Touko's things and also a ton of Touko photos. All throughout the margins are cheesy stuff like "my light in the darkness, my brightest star," and Touko acts like she hates it but she loves it and Komaru can tell.
Touko has one single picture of the whole class from HPA and Junko's face is scratched out in marker, Komaru will secretly stare at it sometimes and wonder if she could have became her if she didn't have Touko; if in a different universe she is also scratched out in photos, if she is also a source of pain. Komaru never wears her hair in pigtails and keeps cutting it shorter and shorter every year until she wouldn’t be able to pull it up anymore.
Komaru likes the idea of making sweet tea and lemonade for Touko in bulk but she almost always forgets to do it each week and Touko has to make it for her.
I could keep going. I could talk about these two for hours.
5. Do you think they'll have any kids, or are they child free?
No kids. I think the idea of kids is thoroughly ruined for them. They keep semi in touch with the Warriors of Hope once they discover them, but they basically hand them off to someone else to take care of the issue (Makoto) and just occasionally get updates on them. They do not want kids, and I don't think they ever will.
10. My favorite scene in canon with them
This is literally so hard. I really like so many of them... Touko calling Komaru Komaru for the first time, the entire scene with Nagito/Servant and them (if we were talking Syomaru then it would definitely be that scene), their talk about having a picnic when this is all over, Touko's whole scene with snatching the controller from her and choosing both Komaru and Byakuya.... them fighting Big Bang Monokuma... there are literally sooo many good scenes. Even early scenes like Touko talking to Komaru right after Yuta dies, or that early Toukomaru hug, or I'm even fond of when they're video calling Makoto and Touko threatens to kill Komaru— so many good and interesting scenes... Ah, I guess I have to go with Touko snatching the controller and choosing both Komaru and Byakuya. It's the culmination of their entire relationship up to that point. Touko is fighting for Komaru. She won't let her ruin her own life. Their relationship is what saves Komaru. What saves them all, in a way.
14. Worst scene with them in canon?
Either Touko insinuating Komaru has weird incest things going on with Makoto (why) or her making that cumaru naegi joke - which felt like a slap in the face, the salt in the wound, to the whole Kotoko SA-ing Komaru in a freaking minigame. I did like Syo saving Komaru there, but like. Come on. You could have handled that a bit more tactfully, Danganronpa.
18. Who is better at cooking?
Touko is better at plain meals and Komaru makes "gross" food but makes it well. They both hate the others cooking like I said, so they often side by side make different meals together.
20. Where in the world would they travel together?
I honestly only see them traveling to visit Makoto, Byakuya, and assorted Co, or on missions to help restore the world. I think they're oddly attached to Towa City so they don't really like to leave it.
Tenmiko:
4. What does their life look like together today? (Simulation AU)
I'm going with a simulation AU again, but I think first off, right off the bat, Tenko is really proud of Himiko and says it often. Himiko really needs the assurance. I think Himiko tries really hard to be upfront with her feelings now, so even if she's super embarrassed she tries to be extremely affectionate with Tenko which makes Tenko super flustered every time. So they're just flustered dorks a lot. Himiko would early on realize that Tenko can dish out compliments and sappy stuff easily, but she cannot for the life of her take them, and Himiko makes it her mission to shower her in all of that. Sometimes Tenko has to sit Himiko down and go, "You don't have to push yourself so hard all the time. You're doing great. I'm proud of you," cause I think Himiko would become kind of overzelous at first especially. Himiko tries so hard to join her in neo akkido that sometimes she works herself to exhaustion and Tenko has to carry her to bed. But eventually she starts to grow stronger too. And tenko is very proud of her just trying...
Tenko might run a dojo, I think, and she teaches neo akkido to people. Some people come for DR reasons and Himiko hates it but Tenko tries to connect with them and reach them because she knows they used to be them too. These are lonely people who are seeking out fulfillment from DR and while she can't change all their minds, she can for some. She's providing a community for them which helps turn them away from seeking that community with DR. Himiko hates all of them but Tenko actually becomes friends with a lot and Himiko softens somewhat on it, especially with them talking about why Tenko is doing this and why its important to her. Himiko... Himiko has an part time office job and also works as a children magician on the side— not at first, it takes her a bit to go back to magic. But when she does Tenko celebrates and they order sweets for the two of them... Himiko unlike Tenko does not tolerate any Danganronpa stuff at her shows, she basically blacklists any fans.
Tenko makes Himiko dinner every night and at first she sucks at it and Himiko just grins and bares it since shes so excited everytime about cooking for her, she just lies that she likes it, but Tenko can tell the moment she bites into her food that oh this is not good, Himiko is totally lying to me (she finds it sweet). But she does keep at it and eventually makes good food!!! And she loves doting on Himiko with food once she gets better at it. She's not an expert by any means but she can cook a few basic foods and she keeps at it. Himiko is basically like, "well, tenko has the cooking down, and since I'm staying with her Forever, I don't need to cook, especially since she loves feeding me so much, BUT she's not a baker and I want to feed her too— I shall learn to bake sweets for her."
And she's also just god awful at it.
But she keeps at it just like Tenko and eventually she gets better and better at it. And by the end of it she can make cookies from scratch and she's so damn proud of it. And she expands to other sweets, trying to master all of Tenko's favorites...
5. Do you think they'll have any kids, or are they child free?
HMM. A hard one. I kind of think Tenko wants kids and Himiko is scared to raise them and mess them up. So it could go either way. I imagine they have a lot of serious talks on this and maybe decide to wait until their Danganronpa fame dies down and they're more stable. I could also see Tenko unofficially taking a lot of kids under her wings with the dojo, and that kind of being what they end up being instead of official parents— with Tenko being sort of half mentor half cool big sister figure to a bunch of teens and kids. I think Tenko really wants people in her life in general. She want community. She wants to provide community. I don't really think she has to be a proper mom to do so, but I don't think she would be unfulfilled/unhappy if she went the more traditional mom route too... I guess overall they don't have any official kids, but Tenko mentors a bunch of kids that consider her family and her them.

Oh, totally Tenko. That girl was basically out and proud the whole game, even if she never used the label lesbian.

They don't tell Tsumugi or Korekiyo for obvious reasons. Tenko is more sympathetic to Tsumugi than Himiko, and they both understand that Korekiyo was a victim of DR too, but neither of them want to hang out with either of them.
21. Which one is more likely to snore when they sleep?
They both snore! But Tenko snores louder. They both find the others snores super cute, but not so much their own.
