!!! SPOILERS FOR SEPTIMUS HEAP !!!
what i really like about the Septimus Heap series is that (one of?) the main character(s) started off as a side character (question mark since Jenna is as relevant as Septimus so idk if shes mc or not)
while reading Magyk, i was fr thinking the entire series will follow Jenna's journey, and began wondering who Septimus was, and why the series was named after him
so when Boy 412 was introduced, i fr thought he was just as irrelevant as The Apprentice/The Hunter, i thought he was js there to build the plot 😭
but at the end of the book, when he was revealed to be Septimus Heap, i was literally (O□O?) like what main character is introduced as some half-dead boy found frozen in the snow 😭 (the plot twists in this series are plot twisting)
i recommend reading this series if you have time to kill (its rlly lengthy, 7 books), i cant rlly give feedback since ive re-read each book at least 5 times, so my opinion on it is just... yeah idk 😭
oh that's an interesting take on a main character. i haven't read this series but it sounds good and it will be added to my 'to read' list along with several others 😭😭
but for anyone who's looking for book recs [@elaichi-chai] (though you've spoiled it but like me i have goldfish memory so whenever i read it i will have no idea what is going on anyway)
also i have a weird love-hate? relationship with book series like either it will be a hit and i will binge read the entire thing no matter the amount of books without doing anything else (i go a little crazy with reading yes) orrrr i will keep the entire series on my bookshelf, pick the first book and read a few pages, put it back and pick it up a year later, repeat (me with a song of ice and fire series it's been 9 years i'm like halfway through the book but thanks to the amount of memes i've consumed of that series without even watching its tv adaptation that i can pick right where i left without needing to revise it LMAO)
alsooo you should read artemis fowl series it's like a criminal prodigy (a literal kid) and faeries and a whole universe and impeccable humour and plot and it's so so good. i read it when i was 12 and it's still one of my fav series ever, and it's prob the root of my obsession with languages bc the author created a whole new language for that book! i decoded it on my own to read what the texts said (there was an entire story in that language in between the novel itself) and it is one of my proudest brain moments LMAO
