Quicksilver: Morally Grey Chaos, Fey Confushion & Why am I still thingking about this?
I picked up Quicksliver expecting a good time. (Because heaven only knows how else I can escape life atm)
I did not expect to be dragged into a full emotional spiral featuring morally grey chaos, enemies-to-lovers tension, and the kind of “burn the world for you” energy that just hits different. (I mean honestly does this even exist in this world)
Let’s start with the main character- because…
Being a “bookworm” isn’t about escaping life—it’s about understanding it more deeply 📚🧠 Every story adds a new perspective, a new layer, a new way to see the world and yourself 💫
Definition of bookworm: someone who spends a great deal of time reading. Definition : Me. Obviously. 📚😌 If loving fictional characters more than real people is wrong… I don’t want to be right. 🐛🍎✨
You know that feeling where a book's got you in its clutches, but you can't keep reading (but you want to keep reading) because there are "real life" things to do... And then you're just going about your day thinking about that book? That's me at the moment. I love that feeling!

I'm a little bit behind schedule, but currently enjoying my annual listen to "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. This time, I'm listening to a version read by Sir David Suchet. I'm liking it a lot! Check out the podcast here (or wherever you get your podcasts):
Welcome to Charles Dickens Ghost Stories read by Sir David Suchet. We’ll be sharing a selection of the great author’s most chilling short wor
I've been hanging out on World Anvil a fair bit recently (I've just popped a short story up on there, and I'm gearing up to write a bunch of articles for WorldEmber). While I was lurking on there yesterday, I decided to check out some of the stories that others had posted and randomly picked one to read.
That random pick was "Terminal Descent" by Jacqueline Taylor. This is book 1 in "The Dark Thread".
"Terminal Descent" is a quick read, but it packs a huge punch and I was hooked from the start. I loved how vivid the whole thing was!
I won't go into too much detail as I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I just wanted to share that I enjoyed it and provide you all with a link in case you wanted to check it out.
Here's a bit more info:
About the Dark Thread (these are the author's words):
"Jared works for the Shadow Investigation Unit, a covert organization tasked with confronting the unseen forces that bleed through the Rifts and haunt the edges of our world. In the shadows of Seattle’s underground, he faces creatures born of darkness, unearthly phenomena, and the mysteries of a power stirring within himself. Every case tests the limits of his courage, his mind, and the fragile line between the natural and the impossible.
Note: This series was inspired by a series of adventures that we played in my Animal Campaign. Many of these adventures were adaptations from those released to the public for free use for Modern D20."
About "Terminal Descent":
"Terminal Descent is the first in a series that follows Jared into the depths—both beneath the city and inside his own soul—as he hunts the Shadow Kind and seeks to understand the Dark that calls to him."
I'll definitely be checking out more from this author (two other stories are available on World Anvil!).

By the way, I feel like "something cool I found on World Anvil" might end up becoming a series on here. Any objections? I will take silence as agreement that you all think I should continue...
