A: I am trying out this genre, and I would love to explore the books you all loved. Siddharth is the tale of a common young man in India during the time of Gautam Buddha's spiritual awakening. He is the son of a brahmin, and is constantly haunted by his search for Nirvana. He tries his luck becoming a Samana, and leaving his household. On his quest, he meets Gautam Buddha, and realises, Nirvana cannot be attained without it's counterpart- sansara. So the story starts rolling from there. How a person who left his home falls into the pit of worldly possession and lusts after every sin known to mankind. Later comes an age, when he self evaluates himself and again leaves all he had known, in search of the divine word that unites all - OM. This is a compact book quite well written to show that you cannot let go of anything without experiencing it first. In order to let go of your worldly infatuation, you have to experience it first, do mistakes of your own and learn from that everyday. Only when you have surpassed your quota of mistakes, you will be able to attain the ultimate wisdom. For knowledge can be taught and distributed, but not wisdom. You cannot teach, buy or get wisdom from anyone. For that, you have to learn from your mistakes. Let me know your opinion of this book if you have read it yet, or if you are inclined to try it out.
