I’m writing my blog post a little earlier than usual tonight as I am so sleepy, I was thinking about catching up on some sleep. Today I’m writing all about the Wiccan Rede. It felt only right, after introducing the two main deities, to comment on the guidelines by which most Wiccans follow. Please also note that all of the comments and thoughts I write here are my own views, and other Wiccans may choose to follow a different path.
The Wiccan Rede is used as a general guideline by which you should live your life. Some may compare it to the 10 Commandments in Christianity. It comes in many forms, but here I have wrote the shortened version, but is the one I like to use in my Book of Shadows. When you break it down, it comes into two separate parts.
First, an’ ye hard none, do what ye will. If what you are doing does not hurt yourself or others around you, then continue. If what you are doing hurts anyone, including things in nature, then it should be reconsidered. I also relate this into spell-work, where I do not use black magick, or magick that interferes with another persons free will.
Secondly, what ye send fourth comes back to thee, so ever mind the law of three. This is not followed by all pagans/wiccans, however I find it very true and also a good reminder that your actions have consequences. If I am being nice to a person, that kindness should be rewarded three-fold. However, should I be negative or nasty, that will also come back in threes, and this can largely impact events or emotions surrounding yourself.
Simply hurt no other being when you go about your daily life, and you best believe that karma is real.
