This post is my #bookscoasttocoastoct post for October 31st - #HalloweenThemed #WrapUp - and my #WitchAThon AND #BYOBthon #FinalStats and #WrapUp! I finished 23 and read Part 1 and First Interlude in a 24th for a grand total of 5,721 pages read! 😄😍❤ . . . . Photo Three shares the #WitchAThon Reading Challenges! I completed six of the seven and part of the seventh! For a total of 1,389 pages read, 4 books and part of a 5th completed, 6(.5?) reading challenges DONE! 😄😍❤ . . . . I decided to count City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab as my spooky horror/thriller book, as it was definitely spooky and thrilling! 😄❤ . . . . Photos Four through Six share the #BYOBthon reading challenges! I definitely completed 29/43 and It by Stephen King counted for part of 4 more challenges! Photo Seven shares a different list of reading challenges, and I completed all but 8 of them, with 2 being partially completed! 😄😍❤ . . . . #BYOBthon Stats, including ALL of the stories I read in October, are as follows: 5,721 pages read, 23 plus part of a 24th book completed, 29/43 + part of 4/43 reading challenges DONE! 😄❤ . . . . Today's October 30th task for #bookscoasttocoastoct is to share my #OctoberHaul. I ordered some books and won a couple of giveaways from @penguinrandomhouse and @torbooks, so this post shares most of what I got! 😄😍❤ . . . . Max helped me unbox all of these books, but his face is only in the first photo. Why? Because he was only helping because he had designs on the shipping boxes! 🙈😄😍❤ . . . . Photo One above shares all three of the packages I got in the first two weeks of October. 😍❤ . . . . Photo Two shares the first to arrive: my book order from @barnesandnoble! And Photo Three shares what was in it! 😍❤😍 . . . . Photo Four shares the tote full of books that I won in a @penguinrandomhouse giveaway, and Photo Five shares the books that were in the tote! 😍❤😍 . . . . Today's October 29th task for #bookscoasttocoastoct was to share a #bookwithacat. So here is the book I started this afternoon after I finished The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill. 😄😍❤ . . . . City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab not only has a cat in the story, it has a cat on the cover and his name is Grim! 😄❤ . . . . I am really eager to read more of this story, but my plan to finish it tonight might not work out as it's after 9:30p now and I'm only on page 55 of 285. Today's October 28th task for #bookscoasttocoastoct is to share a #bookandsweets. Yesterday's task was to share a #CharacterYoudDressUpAs. Both of these tasks are represented by the book on the right! 😍❤😍 . . . . On the Edge by Ilona Andrews has chocolates on it for today's sweets, and do you see Rose on the cover? If I were to dress up as a character for Halloween, it'd be someone like Rose who wears regular clothes. Boots, jeans, and a denim jacket? All I'd need is a shotgun and I'd be set! 😄😍❤ . . . . But I don't dress up for Halloween. The last time I did was probably +30 years ago, when I was in elementary school. 🙄❤ . . . . With On the Edge, I have my #CurrentRead: The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill! I'm very much enjoying this book. I love Xan, the Witch; Fyrian, the Perfectly Tiny Dragon (he's the size of a dove!); and Glerk, the Swamp Monster. I'm hoping Luna will grow on me. 😊❤ . . . . I totally forgot to share a post for yesterday's #bookscoasttocoastoct challenge! The task was #VampiresORWerewolves. Luckily it goes well with today's October 26th task to share a #bookyoureafraidtoread! 😄😍❤ . . . . I very much prefer reading about SHIFTERS, be they werewolves or weretigers or werebears or werelions or weredragons or any other kind. And while most worlds with shifters also have vampires, I don't read those books and series for the vampires. And incidentally, books with werewolf protagonists are not my favorites either. I read them for the OTHER shifters. 😕 . . . . I know this vampire-averse affliction might seem weird, considering that shifters mostly just shift from human to animal, while vampires vary GREATLY from one book to another, but vampires just don't excite me the way shifters do. 😕 And shifters vary, too! Some only shift when the moon is full, others whenever; some need naps after shifting, others don't; some change into tigers, others into bears, still others into snakes or what have you... 🙄 . . . . Anyway, back to Books I'm Afraid to Read! The two in the photo above are first books in long series: Dark Lover by J.R. Ward is first in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill begins the Chicagoland Vampires series. Both of these series also have shifters in them, I think, but the main characters are vampires and I've been dragging my feet on reading them for YEARS now. 😕 . . . . It makes NO sense, though, because I KNOW I've loved books in both of these series in the past - five stars and all - but I just have this block against reading series-that-center-around-vampires and fears are rarely reasonable. And I'm not AFRAID to read them, it's just... 😕 . . . . I do hope to finally read ALL of the Chicagoland Vampires series books by Chloe Neill in 2019, though, so there's that. I am just hoping for a push to start book one. Because once I read book one, I'll fall in love and be okay to read the rest. Today's October 23rd task for #bookscoasttocoastoct is to share my #FavoriteBadassFemale. Can you see my favorite in Photo One? Oops! Max is IN THE WAY! 😲😨🤣❤ . . . . This task is in honor of today being release day for Kingdom of Ash. I haven't started its series, yet, so I'm rather clueless to understand all the hype around this book. 🤔🤔🤔 . . . . But to see my favorite badass female turn to Photo Two! My favorite is Kate Daniels! No thought necessary! And this photo shares Kate's series in its proper home by my main bookshelf system. All of the books and short stories are shown in series order except for book 10, which will be added once it's released as a mass market paperback. 😊😍❤ . . . . Photo Three shares Max's face. Today's October 22nd task for #bookscoasttocoastoct was to share #monsters! So I present for your consideration the two books I read over the weekend for the #deweyoct #Readathon! 😄😍❤ . . . . Dreadful Company by Vivian Shaw DEFINITELY has monsters in it: wellmonsters and a whistle-monster to be exact. They were a LOT of fun, too! And that's not to mention the vampires and werewolf that featured in this story! 😄❤ . . . . And Nevernight by Jay Kristoff features human monsters: contract killers and their foes, the suns god's people, who want to eradicate them. And I imagine some probably consider darkin to be monsters, with their shadow animals and ability to call shadows. 😄❤ . . . . Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff is in this shot because it's my #CurrentRead! And so far, I've met a darkin and slavers, and slavers ARE monsters, don't you agree? 🤔❤ . . . .
