✨REVIEW✨ Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . . Spoilers . This book was a ride. At times it was physically uncomfortable to read but I couldn’t help but. Set in medieval times, the horrors described in this novel were unsettling, yet fascinating. Each character is on itself a contradiction between the most primal of a human being and the complexities behind emotion, morality and restraint. Villiam, the feudal lord of Lapvona was probably one of my favorite characters. And let me get this out of the way: he IS an asshole. BUT I couldn’t help but laugh when his scenes came around. Maybe I should check on that with a therapist. I ended up hating the protagonist, Marek as much as everyone in his life did, but I felt like he was such a good character, to me he felt alive. And most of the characters did for this story is FILLED with interesting points of view. I feel like im just rambling about how good this book is but I can only recommend you to read it. I swear I didn’t mean to do all of these posts today but I needed to keep my mind busy. Valentines Day isn’t the real celebration today, it’s actually the 30th anniversary of The Silence of the Lambs movie being released. Has there ever been a more appropriate Valentines movie? I really feel that SoL captures the essence of the book and especially of Clarice. Kick ass female characters are my thing and Clarice is definitely in my top five. 
Several people have asked me if I’m going to be watching the tv show Clarice when it airs in the U.K. and no I will not be watching for several reasons. As many of you know the show Hannibal is extremely important to me and will forever have a special place in my heart. I was very excited when I heard that there would be a Clarice tv show and had planned to watch right up until I saw an interview where the show runner was very insulting about Hannibal. I then read the reviews and talked with some friends who did watch it and that confirmed my decision. Clarice Starling is one of my favourite characters and i will not be watching a show that disempowers her and is so disrespectful to the source material. Instead I will be watching Silence of the Lambs tonight and reading the book for the millionth time. This will also be my pick for Maryland in the challenge #50states50horrorbooks
