I swear I didn’t mean to do all of these posts today but I needed to keep my mind busy. Valentines Day isn’t the real celebration today, it’s actually the 30th anniversary of The Silence of the Lambs movie being released. Has there ever been a more appropriate Valentines movie? I really feel that SoL captures the essence of the book and especially of Clarice. Kick ass female characters are my thing and Clarice is definitely in my top five. Several people have asked me if I’m going to be watching the tv show Clarice when it airs in the U.K. and no I will not be watching for several reasons. As many of you know the show Hannibal is extremely important to me and will forever have a special place in my heart. I was very excited when I heard that there would be a Clarice tv show and had planned to watch right up until I saw an interview where the show runner was very insulting about Hannibal. I then read the reviews and talked with some friends who did watch it and that confirmed my decision. Clarice Starling is one of my favourite characters and i will not be watching a show that disempowers her and is so disrespectful to the source material. Instead I will be watching Silence of the Lambs tonight and reading the book for the millionth time.
