This is a really interesting read if you are in to toxicology and ancient warfare! Mayor covers botanical toxins, arrow poisons and poisoned waters as well as other ingenious ancient weapons. From Scorpion bombs and swarms of bees to indigenous people whose saliva is toxic; Mayor explore the origins of some of these mythological sounding weapons. I actually used the poison arrow chapter as a reference for my book. It is interesting reading how closely guarded these poisonous and incendiary formulas were.
