Atropa belladonna - Belladonna (Deadly Nightshade) Leaf Earrings v2 in Pure Silver, Black Onyx
I redid a few pairs of earrings and pendants with different silver beads to look a little more like the calyx on the berry, but they've also been discontinued 🤦🏼♀️
Deadly beauty ~ Small, sultry belladonna leaves, handmade in pure silver, wrapped with a smooth black onyx bead as the "berry." This is a se
Would poison exist without us? What is poison and how have our ideas about it influenced our history? How does it continue to influence our daily lives? Why does this omnipresent and non-existent substance hold such a sway over our attention? Poison has been used as a tool to control, to persecute marginalized individuals and perpetuate a fear of the natural world. An enemy of the social order, the crime of poisoning was anecdotally linked to women. Poison as a metaphor is used to describe people and ideas that are a threat to the patriarchy and its henchmen, capitalism and religion. Understanding the philosophical side of poison, as a symbolic metaphor and occult force is to begin at the original Promethean transmission at the Tree, and follow the angelic corruption as it changes all it touches. Poison and witch are synonymous, both powerful catalysts of change. Dualistic in nature, a serpentine crack in the monolith of patriarchal oppression. 🐍 - #poisonpath #thepoisonpath #veneficium #poisonersapothecary #occulttoxicology #occultbotany #ontology #epistemology #venenum #thepoisonpath #healingwithpoisons #plaguesandpeoples #toxicology https://www.instagram.com/p/CnwuOMJr2Yo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Hi! I saw your baneful magic circle and was wondering what the process for creation was like? You don't have to explain what every symbol means but I'd love to know more about what went into the creative process.
Hi, thanks for asking I’d be happy to share with you the message. :)
Lately I’ve been immersing myself in the poison path and doing a lot of research into flying ointments. This lead me to thinking about charging circles and the powers of Saturn.
The center circle is a sigil that came to me while making flying ointment and having the essence of the plants all over my skin. The symbol flashed in my mind and I wrote it down. The four symbols for Saturn and the alchemical symbol for essence. Because the essence of the baneful herbs is the power of Saturn.
The next ring are the other symbols of the planets and monad which represents reality. Then the 8 pointed star represents balance with four positive and four negative ideas. Since any poison is medicine with the right dose.
Then the crescent moons represent waxing and waning leading to the message written in theban : reality is liminal and personal relics have power.
The final circle is the opening of the gate with the sun shining it’s light into the darkness.
Before the Hedge Jumper retires for good, I’d like to give it one last moment in the sun, so here’s a few glimpses from the drawing process during March of 2018. Once it’s sold out, Hedge Jumper will enter into the printshop archives. There are still a handful up for grabs! 🌿 The Hedge Jumper is an illustration that captures the energy of the hedge witch as she walks between worlds and communes with the wise spirits of the unknown. From her right hand sprout plants that cleanse and protect-- Rosemary, Black Cohosh, Motherwort, Garlic, Hawthorn, and St. John's Wort. From her left grow plants that will aid her intuition and psychic abilities-- Peppermint, Mugwort, Dandelion, Yarrow, Jasmine, Cinquefoil, and Mullein. Beneath her unfurl the saturnine plants of the underworld, the poisonous "witches' weeds" found in the infamous flying ointments-- Foxglove, Datura, Henbane, Mandrake, Aconite, and Poppy. Although benevolent, the hedge witch knows that to understand the whole of spiritual wisdom she must possess a thorough knowledge of flora both healing and baneful. With this keen awareness, she reveres the green realm and submits her open mind as a receptive offering in exchange for the invaluable wisdom of the unknown worlds. Blessed by divine spirits, her animal familiar, the snake, encircles her as an act of mutual respect, symbolizing illumination, protection, and wholeness as she embraces the natural cycle of the earth. With her ability to touch all worlds and the natural energy of her trance-like state, The Hedge Jumper is a visual spell for personal power and the act of embracing all the worlds within yourself, both light and dark. The illustration symbolizes protection, balance, and wisdom gained through communion with the green realm and those divine energies that connect the whole of universe together. 🌿 #poisonappleprintshop #hedgejumper #hedgewitch #witchcraft #herbalism #herbwitch #greenwitch #jumpingthehedge #poisonpath #sketchbook #supporthandmade https://www.instagram.com/p/Ckqlv3gr8kD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
