I finished The Guest List by Lucy Foley last weekend. The book had me at thriller, however, once I started it, I quickly realized that I did not like any of the characters. I understand that this was by design, but it made it really hard for me to roll with the novel. I came across this quote in War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy and it made me giggle. Yes, a quote in War and Peace that made be giggle likea proverbial school girl.  What made it so funny was I could actually hear a few folks I am acquainted with just talking away and me thinking this very thought. But therein lies the difference, I thought it but, Tolstoy wrote it down. He knew just how to capture the moment with as few words as possible. The Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is my joint read with my nine-year daughter. She reads a page and then I read a page.
