“... Now, look, since when did you think being good meant being happy?” 🎡 Hey all! Haven’t been #bookstagraming for obvious reasons if you live in the U.S. that being said, I realize this book is best read at Halloween. The first chapter starts off with an ode to October. The whole book could be described as an ode, actually. An ode to darkness, fall, small towns, mystery, the Midwest, morality, friendship, libraries, childhood and aging. I didn’t read this book as a child (as many have) so while I was engaged with the two adolescent protagonist, it was Charles Halloway-the one consistent adult character- I was the most interested in. Bradbury was heavily influenced by poetry (particularly John Donne) and it shows in this effort. I came to really appreciate that but it didn’t take me a moment to get into it. This book is the best for A T M O S P H E R E so I recommend if for your TBR pile for next October. 🎡 #🥀 #darkacademia #richardpapen #classiclit #classicliterature #literary #literarycommunity #bookstagram #lightacademia #readersofinstagram #writersofinstagram #teachergoth #blackwritersofinstagram #weirdblackgirl #protectweirdblackgirlsatallcosts #deadauthors #romanticacademia #biblophile #midwesterngothic #byronicheroine #gothicacademia #asecondofwhimsy #romanticism #booksbooksbooks #fallvibes #raybradbury #somethingwickedthiswaycomes #spookyseasonneverends https://www.instagram.com/p/CHYSXD2h08I/?igshid=lqoaro9anog5
