I’m linking in comments to a 10 year old article, but it’s topical. It was bringing evidence that our consumer options were influencing the Amazon deforestation. I’m still searching for more current data, but I think it’s not data that is missing, it’s the processing of data that is missing. How thoughtful are people about their beef consumption? How thoughtful have we been about our flying, our soy or our cocoa? My view is not to stop doing things but to get ourselves to be more conscious about our life and work decisions — this isn’t about preaching, or spoiling fun, this is a nudge towards doing our own research. We left our Biology notebooks and books in school or uni, but now’s the time to put the environment in our daily timetable. I stopped having homework and classes and tests in Biology twenty years ago, but I believe we should rekindle that learner mindset. Just reading the news and talking about the environment is simply not enough. My recent journey towards actions started with taking this photo at @bearded_kitten ’s Diner in Boomtown Springs @boomtownfairofficial . These mannequin hands holding an empty tray spurred a chain of thoughts about what’s on my daily tray. That ultimately led to becoming aware of the daily need for ALL three Omegas, and I was very often missing one of them. So my self assigned assignment this week is to know by heart the natural sources of Omega 3-6-9. At the moment I take supplements daily, but wonder if there’s any locally grown algae to bring into my stews. Do you know any local algae producers?
