I heard people like to make things wander around their VRC map; how about some cats!

Modelling and rigging a cat is no challenge for me at this point, but for this I really went all-in with uMotion in Unity! Animating quadrupeds in a natural way and getting the layers blending nicely took some fiddling, and I'm sure with a more complex rig the result could've been even better, but for VRC follower/map wandering use this is as 'complex' as it needs to be.

The modularity of the rig and variety of textures is as "per-usual" with my bundles. I'm hoping people could get the cat looking like their own real-life pet!!

Fur-Heads with face tracking!

The idea popped up last summer after seeing so many Rex and Nanachi avatars, and hearing some longing for other animals. Having face tracking in vr myself and it being fairly simple to implement, I settled on the idea of making a bundle of the most common furry species!

As per usual, the idea bloated like crazy after having constant realizations of what people might want! People can always edit the base instead of using the default look, but what if people don't know how to safely edit the mesh without breaking everything? How would they edit the textures without messing up the normal map alignment? ARKit or SRanipal face tracking? In or outside of VRchat?

The plan was only the heads at first, but ofc people would like a tail to go with it? Ah, but if they have that, maybe matching hands are in place. Next up I would've had to expand to making a body as well, but with a base body I would've had to start making clothes as well and asdfghj-- so I figured a good middle-ground is to have the head, tail and hands for people to easily combine on whatever base that has their desired clothing provided. As a test, I swapped in the wolf parts on my Mysli avi and hue shifted the base body skin texture to match, and awooo works like intended!

The project stayed on the back burner, and slowly progressed for months. Wanting to start the new year fresh, I hacked away at it and finally had to settle at some point calling it DONE.

PS: For science sake yes I had to try if this. And yes the face tracking still worked haha.
