bootstrappers moments from recent visits
firstly, NOTHING could have prepared me to see Syd doing the 67 hands during his verse of Fathom the Bowl. he did it at the Professor, and then glanced at me for 0.04 seconds looking pleased with himself as I was like omg no you did not
Syd (on the same day) playing the Bluey theme song on mandolin thrice - once before a song, once in the middle of Bully in the Alley (which he called Bluey in the Alley, sigh) and once in the middle of Flowers of Edinburgh
Stringfellow telling me that the accordion player wasn't there bc he'd been drinking and has a lower tolerance than the rest of the crew (presumably he meant Grieving Tim as this is who I normally see on accordion)
Stringfellow doing his dog bark sounds so excessively during the early morning set that Schooner Bob shook him by the sleeve and said enough already, for god's sake
The Professor playing a lute on the island! I asked him about it and that exchange was the most I've ever interacted with him. we are both more soft spoken and I like this a lot lol I feel represented :p
I missed getting on the raft by two people, which has never happened to me before. Syd, from the raft, said "wow you were this close 🤏🏼... well, you tried" and Stringfellow fake cried and waved dramatically as the raft pulled away
I swear they are all mind readers because every time I think to myself I haven't heard a particular song in a while and I might request it, they sing it that day before I get the chance. This happened recently with Dogger Bank, Larry Maher, and Get Up Jack John Sit Down
Also, not a highlight but I haven't seen Grieving Tim in over a monthhh. what if I cried :(
Posting some random (But important to me) bootstrappers headcanons while I attempt to write up the whole story that’s in my head
Pls share headcanons and character thoughts with meeeee!! I love to yap about my favorite Pirates <3
Mean Jean and Stringfellow are a happily married couple
Unable to have children of their own, they end up, by pure happenstance adopting Syd and Vivi in different places, years apart (Syd is older)
Syd is rescued from a child auction. That’s why he considers child auctions a “cheerful” occasion, because it led to him finding a loving home. (I’ll link the vid where he mentions them if I can ever find it)
Vivi was adopted as an orphaned child they came across while on shore leave
Syd and Vivi are siblings though and through, including the constant bickering
Syd is a mama’s boy, and Vivi is a daddy’s girl
Stringfellow began sailing with the navy, when their ship was raided by the pirates, he was held at sword point by the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. He immediately surrendered and followed Mean Jean back to her ship like a lovesick puppy
Syd and Vivi grow up alongside Grieving Tim (and yes, I do have a HC for why he’s called that)
Syd and Tim are the best of friends.
Vivi and Tim fall and love and eventually get married (I’ve seen so many cute vids with them. They have the best chemistry)
Many of the older Pirates (including but not limited to: Stringfellow, Mean Jean, Enaud, Crowsnest, and Blind Dog) have sailed together for decades and consider each other family, aunts and uncles to Syd and Vivi, (and Tim by proxy) while others come and go
Yuri canonically has multiple wives, so I can only assume he has even more children out there
Syd and Moonie are so alike. They match each other’s freak and it makes them both despise each other and obsess over each other. They have some form of weird relationship, but it’s very nebulous and very hostile
Nobody really knows where Moonie came from. He just kinda wasn’t there, and then one day, he was. Everyone’s sure he has a crazy backstory (and he does) but no one knows anything about it, and the only answers they DO get are total BS
I have so much more to share about these charactersssss I love themmmm.
I wanna get into their various roles on the ship next
i have nowhere to put these

They spend their days belting out chanteys – anything from traditional sailor songs to the theme from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction itself – and dreaming of the sea. Or at least of the Rivers of America. Or perhaps just Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island. Half the Bootstrappers’ songs are about drink. Half their songs are about ships and sailors. And half their songs are about women and treasure. What? It’s pirate math. Honestly, I’m not really sure if they’re an improvisational comedy troupe who sings, or a musical group who does improv comedy. But either way, I think they’re brilliant. However, fair warning, me hearties! While the Dapper Dans may occasionally select an audience member or two to tease with a song, the Bootstrappers are rascally pirates who love to badger their audiences at all times – but only in a well-intentioned way. Whether it’s by picking a pocket of an unnoticing bystander (all booty is always returned to its owner) or some very in-your-face singing and joking around, the Bootstrappers show is not for the shy spectator unless you stand well back in the crowd! Everyone is expected to participate in singing, clapping and the occasional other bits of choreography required. It makes for a rollicking good time, but not for the easily discomfited. In this sense, it’s more of a comedy show than just a musical performance. The Bootstrappers’ mischief-making is at the same level as the Pirates of the Caribbean movie buccaneers – or the attraction itself for that matter. But the pirates have fun engaging with adults and children alike. Some of the humor is over the kids’ heads and aimed more at the grown-ups, but the young ones can enjoy the silliness of it all too. #disneylandentertainment #neworleanssquare #bootstrappers #disneyland #disneylandcalifornia #disneylandpark (at Disneyland - Theme Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz0zXo-AkDh/?igshid=1x4sd8a9n43ho

It’s finally done!!! My favorite pirate shanty group (The Skullduggers) gets hired by Xbox to promote the Sea of Thieves game at tons of conventions. Recently they went to Brazil where they took a hilarious photo with a Cuphead Cosplayer where they were beating him up. I wanted to take that concert a few steps further and design a “screenshot” as if they were an ingame boss. This was a challenge but I had a ton of fun with this!
