Plus, this was one of Blue Note’s first CD comps that really began to highlight their own history and the tracklist is totally pristine: Art Blakey, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Sonny Rollins, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, and a few more. A must-listen for any jazz novice or anyone who’s looking to get into 50s and 60s stuff and doesn’t know where to begin.
