Memories of Borde Hill garden in Sussex this June

So, I've moved back to East Sussex and have started to explore the local landscapes and gardens. The re-education program starts with Borde Hill. Not normally my type of thing, but i loved the Italian garden. It is old enough for the trees and shrubs to be at full maturity, the hard landscaping is softened by years of use and wall plants, or 'weeds', that gardeners obviously turn a blind eye to. The rill and fountain are understated and the huge pool stands up to the huge skies and landscape views beyond. 

I found a solitary few Allium christophii growing on the shady dry slope beneath a huge tree. A refreshing sight compared to the predictable drifts of it you might see in a mixed border.
