What do you think would happen if someone slapped a cheese slice on a skags bald head
That entirely depends on the ekag and how they're feeling ! Let's consult our good friend Beef the Skag and have a look:
If a skag is relaxed or otherwise in an area it knows to be secure, there probably won't be much of a reaction. It tolerates the cheese and at worst is just a little spooked from the initial contact. It just sits there <3
If the skag is feeling playful or agitated though,
Then it will go SILLY trying to get it off its head and eat it
OOKAAAAY this is gonna maybe/ be a two-parter cause I have a lot to say in general AND about Tusk's skags but I will paraphrase from what I already have written down.
The borderlands franchise has been oh so terrible to us and given us barely anything huge on the scientific front other than this picture from TPS:
I thank 2k Australia EVERYDAY for this shit by the way. And off of that picture I'm gonna explain how I believe skag subspecies, and some of their life cycles work on top of how I believe there is a distinct difference between "normal" skags and alpha skags.
AFTER I talk about what I think their technical real world taxonomic classification would be.
"So, in episode two of tales one of the few things to ever get a name dropped Amanita Pandorica. Which not only is the family Amanita real, but the Amanita Pandorica is the little white mushrooms you see everywhere in almost every game.
Pandorica could be an overarching scientific name for creatures less studied on Pandora but I doubt it since the Amanita were the only ones. I also think that is lame and people should come up with their own cause it's fun. I also think there are a few more scientific names in episode 3, and maybe some posters in TPS with scientific names but I could be wrong.
This isn't only proof that most things on Pandora have to have scientific names, but that A. taxonomic classes from "our" world still exist, if cats and dogs weren't like the smallest evidence otherwise. and B. Pandoran creatures CAN exist within existing taxonomic groups, and their family is probably the only made up thing. Which points me back to believing skags are Feliformes."
And you might go "Splat! Feliformes, really? Let alone mammals?" And to that I say YES! I think they're just very, very fucked up ones. There are five main criteria to make an animal a mammal by technical standards, and while skags technically do not have fur, it wouldn't be too wrong to assume that they have thin hair SOMEWHERE. Even if they do break this rule, plenty of real word mammals break the live birth rule.
Scientists contradict themselves alllll the time, so the alien species from a planet with an entire new element being a fucked up mammal wouldn't be that crazy.
It would make even more sense since we see them tamed/domesticated. [Further on that later I know domestication is an evolutionary process]. "In some parts of Africa, Hyenas were tamed [sort of] waaay before wolves were domesticated. Also there's just a bunch of evidence pointing towards them being Feliformes because they share a lotta characteristics with Meerkats, Hyenas, and vaguely some felines along WITH dogs and wolves.
And yes, we all love Pandora's free dogs running around, but if we were to call them Feliformes it doesn't exactly take that away from us. They're now just. dog cat cat dogs.
This. Also doesn't help the mystery of what FAMILY or superfamilies they'd be in but I think orders and suborders is as far as we can stretch any real life classification. That laves us with this:
Eukaryota
Animalia
Chordata
Mammalia
Carnivora
Feliformia
[Skag Family]
[Skag Species]
Now there's a couple more honorable mentions: Xenarthra, sloths and anteaters, the giant super order meaning meaning "strange, unusual", which armadillos happen to be from. However, none of them are carnivores. I can't think of an armored mammal off the top of my head that is a carnivore which brings up the social aspect. Meerkats are Suricata Suricatta, just cause they're so distinct and can't be placed in like, canis for example. And Caniformes were/are still sort of on the table, I just know more about Feliformes.
Now you could pin the family name to be anything since it's not real. Name them after a god, like Owls, or some latin word for something that they do. Sewgidae (Sick) Terridae (Ground) Cunicidae (Burrow/Mine) Venenidae (poison) - or anything to go off of the meaning of their actual name. [I made these up four months ago if they're wrong I do NOT remember sorry] Or simply just: Skag.
Then you get to families. Next post when I go into specifics about skag species and how I think pack bonding with humans would go I will go more into depth but we essentially have the same thing as before.
S. cunicularius (burrow, mine (burrowing owl))
S. fodere (to dig)
S. venari (to hunt)
S. latrans (barking (coyote)) or,
S.skag, Skag Skag. if scientists rlly. didn't know what to name them.
HOWEVER that's the majority of what I have on generalized species stuff! I love that [the majority of them] are a burrower species and while they are ferocious I cannot wait to talk about it further. Also, very short blurb on how while i think Alpha Skags and Normal/Elder skags are different subspecies [Along with Horned, Badasses {HEAVY quotation on them they're tricky} Snow, Swamp, and a few other types of skags]. They're so close together genetically that they can reproduce with each other without problem. Something something how Pandora's evolution functions. [ESPECIALLY IN SKAGS]. But yeah uh end rant for now thanks for coming to my Ted Talk I never have any clue how to end these things.
Borderlands on the brain again, so here's a full design of a Borderlands AU for Ed. He's gone from wereskag to mutant skag splice as a result from Hyperion slag experiments.
He's a weird mutant man but also the sweetest person you'll ever meet!
I'm imagining he has a skag pack that listens to him and his skag parts mate him uniquely well-suited for life on Pandora, and a small town he lives nearby with his pack in exchange for protecting the town from raiders.
If he was a playable vault hunter, he'd have skills focused around his skag pack protecting him and you'd get skills to upgrade their abilities to assist you.
“SPIKE- his actions speak much louder than his words. (because he doesn’t talk)”
I promised Beater to post this but I still hate it
So uhm- @rejected-beater and I decided to come up with our own Borderlands psyco OCs- so meet my OC Spike! and his pet-skag Tuk!
Spike is basically a regular good ol’ psycho but with a sown shut mouth due to him biting everyone until someone had enough- for some reason he kept it like that and now mostly communicates with muffled noises. Nobody really know how he got those sharp teeth in the first place tho-
Also Spike is more of a lone wolf but his skag Tuk always keeps him company.
Corrosive Wereskag doodle. Based off the badass elemental skags in BL1 because I like how their body and plates were separate colors instead of the whole skag being green (also glowing eyeeeesss).
