Okay so you know how in ntftbl when your in rhys's office in the beginning and he asks u to show off the gun/device anu made you have multiple choices on what to demonstrate it on? If u shoot Sasha's pic and mini rhys you get him to like yell AND HE SAYS "maybe I can ask fiona!...maybe if I can find fiona.."-end quote. I wonder since that happened in the trailer too if we're actually gonna be able to see fiona and Sasha in the next game! ALSO fiona was in one of the endings!! Soooo maybe!!
Okay so basically what if Jack really was doing the right thing (hear me out, hear me out)
Like, what if he found out more info from the Elpis Vault than he let on and he knew about The Ruin that the Guardians were trying to prevent, and he was legit just doing what they asked of him in order to help stop it. We know they were trying to destroy Pandora because that would somehow stop The Ruin from happening, so what if Jack was told that and got instructions on how to stop it (by waking the Warrior and destroying Pandora) and was trying to save us all by doing what the Eridians suggested/pointed him towards. That's why he was constantly telling us that we don't understand and that he's trying to save us all. I think he got a ton of other super useful info from that Vault (like info about Siren lore and how to charge Vault keys to open the Vault earlier than normal and how to make technology that can mess with siren abilities) so what if all of that information was given to him by the Eridians on purpose as a "How To Save The World" package. They left him breadcrumbs towards the Warrior, knowing he'd follow them and set the cogs in motion, and ultimately fulfil their wishes. And what if he was set up to fill this role, but didn't know he was destined to die whilst doing it. Like, the Eridians gave him visions of the Vault and how to open it, but didn't tell him he was gonna die. They tricked him into doing it for them and that's why he was so confident and didn't expect to die at the end. If that was the case, he was thrown under the bus like we were and we killed him because of a big misunderstanding that the Eridians knowingly caused as part of their big plan. He could have been on the same side as us, only we didn't know it because the Eridians were playing both sides like they did with us and the Twins through bl3
Oh my god guys I just realised that the people who go into/around the vaults literally turn into the vault monsters from that specific vault!!!! efjigrnejkgre
Zarpedon and the Lost Legion were turning into the Sentinal. Zarpadon is the same size as him, she has the staff that he carries/fights with, does all of his combat moves, and has his glowing eyes and a little bit of his echoey/whispery voice effect when she speaks. The Lost Legion Eternals are also gaining his appearance and powers with their skin turning to rock, their eyes glowing, and his elemental powers manifesting as they ascend.
Elenor has grown tentacles that match Gythian’s tenticles, whilst everyone around the vault have started bleeding black ink (like that of a squid or octopus) from their eyes and have mysterious afflictions (”curses”)
Nyriad straight up turned into the Serpent monster that Typhon and his wife killed in the first vault. Her body was nowhere to be found even though she had sealed herself in their alone. She went into the vault and the serpent came out. Safe to assume they’re one in the same.
We already know that the vaults are canonically radioactive (thanks to sources like Tannis, the Bounty DLC, and I think the Tentacles DLC) and have an effect on people who are around them for too long (RIP to the Vault hunters cause we’ve been in a LOT of vaults over the years) so it makes sense!!
It would also explain more about why Jack’s scar is bright blue (radiation glows blue irl) and you could also argue that it’s partially what lead to him going insane - because he had radiation poisoning that was starting the transformation into the vault monster, but he wasn’t in the vault long enough for it to transform him any further than that. Although I have to point out that Jack was already very unwell and was doing awful things long before any of his appearances in borderlands, so I’d say that radiation poisoning from the vault might have been one of the triggers, but it certainly wasn’t the cause of his madness
So... Yeah. I don’t know what to do with this knowledge, I'm literally DEAD INSIDE. God help me WHY WHY THEY ARE SO SIMILAR...................... Jeffrey I love u pls be alive
dont get me wrong, I adore this game, being a huge borderlands fan that has spent countless hours researching and lore hunting, i want nothing more than to say this game is flawless. but its biggest downfall has to be troy and tyreen.
these two were built up like no tomorrow, they seemed like something much bigger than they were, and it seemed like it just... fell apart.
its because unlike every villian beforehand, they have no ulterior motive.
steele was working for atlas, who wanted to open a vault to put their name back on the corporate map.
handsome jack wanted to kill off the bandits and make pandora a peaceful planet.
hector was after creating the paradise he was promised by dahl.
troy and tyreen... wanted to get back at typhon? for keeping them safe? it makes zero sense. like sure you can become gods, but what for? so you can kill everything? i refuse to believe tyreen was that apathetic towards others.
like sure if i was trapped on an alien planet with no living humans, i wouldnt stab my dad in the back and leave because i was mad at him.
the twins also had this great sibling rivalry dynamic build up. i would have loved if troy became fucking nutso and was hellbent on outshining tyreen after years of being second-best. or if troy realized tyreen was going off the deep end and joined the raiders in an attempt to stop her. (i may be upset that he’s dead). they had these awesome dynamics going, especially in the latter half of the game, and it never led up to anything. honestly a lot of this writing really ended up falling flat this time around. while anthony burch, bitch that he is, he really made a lot of the writing at least tolerable and had a story that made sense.
this time around a lot of things just didnt feel right, like aurelia’s death, mayas death, tannis being a siren, etc etc. and i mean, typhon? if he was such an important figure, where the hell was he in the past? the first time the vault was opened? speaking of vaults, they used to seem like this amazing, incredible alien construct that nobody ever knew of, in borderlands 3 we open technically 4 in one game. what??? whatever made vaults special clearly isnt there anymore. the title of ‘vault hunter’ used to mean something, now its just tossed around like nothing.
So I haven’t gotten the chance to sit my ass down and pour over the footage to find nuggets of info on the story....yet. But I did see that one Gearbox walkthrough the first mission with Randy commentating.
First, I’m so relieved Lilith is alright, for the moment. I’m still terrified so much that my sweet Firehawk is in danger and I literally am begging for any proof that she is going to be alright.
Secondly, I got this funny feeling. So when the Calypso twins end that hologram speech, Tyreen ends with “you’re our most loyal follower...you just don’t know it yet”. Where more than likely this shouldn’t be looked to into, I jumped down the rabbit hole and this idea popped into my head that its there’s gonna be a Manchurian Candidate thing going on and the new vault hunters are somehow sleeper agents for the twins (really my initial reaction to this idea was comparing it to Bioshock more specifically the phrase: “would you kindly”). I honestly don’t fucking know how this would work story wise/mission wise/gameplay wise. Like I keep saying this is just a weird feeling I’m getting that I just had to share cause bottling up the millions of theories and ideas running through my mind right now can’t be good for my health. Also this nervous fretting over Lilith. I can’t take this dread I have for her fate. Please I need to know my Firehawk is gonna be okay.
