It’s here!!!! Our wool is back from our new favorite people at the @greenmtnspinnery 29 lbs of 2-ply worsted skeins (4oz each) and lots of fun roving and batting from the “waste” that fell off during the process. All washed with plant-based soap and spun on some super cool looking antique equipment. More pictures to come as we sort through it and start the dying process! #fiberfun #borderleicester #naturalwool #ecofriendly
Hand spun Border Leicester with silk Noil processed from raw to hat! #mkuniquedesigns #handknit #handspunyarn #borderleicester (at Grottoes, Virginia)
We're going to start back with the arrival of our sheep this fall. Jo has had a lifelong dream to be a sheep farmer and this October I decided to invest in a birthday surprise of a flock of 3! Jo promptly named them Hera, Demeter, and Dido. All three are Border Leicesters and come from a wonderful farmer in Danville, VT. Two of the ladies are twins (the smaller white and "natural colored" ones) The hope is to use them mostly for wool but we may milk and also harvest meat from lambs in the coming years.
