Read all the Sklansky, @TexDolly, and @TheTommyAngelo books you want... they're great - but don't ever forget Aesop's "Tortoise and the Hare" from elementary school.

Thoroughly disgusted w/ myself for not going with my read on the AA < flopped set hand and x/hero-folding flop, playing too small of a pot w/ AK / AA8 Jcc 6, and playing too big of a pot OOP pre-ante w/out "having it."

The structure was simply too good for me to play such huge pots (150BB+) with the AA < 33 / K93 Jr 5 and the bustout hand of 9c7c (sb 3b pre, c/rai flop) < 88 (c/o Open/4b) / Td8h4d 2d Ac.  

If I had $2,700 burning a hole in my pocket I'd re-enter.  

26% of the time I'd have 63K/30Kss and we'd all be pretty happy.

My 3b OOP was terrible because it was pre-ante and I didn't sack-up and 5b-aipf after he 4b-potted.  5b-pot after he 4b-pots might've worked, but unlikely.  At least in those situations I would've put the decision on him (before he had a set).

Best play on the bust-out hand was obv to fold pf to the original rs.

I'll play another big tournament like this again, but not today.

My AcKc (UTG) > ?? (UTG+1, same guy that flopped a set on my AA earlier) / AA8 Jcc 6 - I opened UTG pre, got a call from +1, btn, and BB.  cBet 1.4K->2,175, x/c his 2.5K->4,975 turn.

I had about 21K bhd after I x/c'd the turn.  I tanked hard, not because I was ever thinking about folding, but because I was trying to figure out if I wanted to let this pot get out of hand.  My perceived range seems to be all pocket pairs, some Ace-x hands, very small chance I turned a back-door Royal draw.  A8 boat and AJ boat are possible, but unlikely, JJ boat and 88 boat allowable.  If he knows I have one of those hands, what the hell would continue with if I would c/r the turn?

He'd continue w/ AQ, AT, maybe smaller aces, but unlikely, his own floated back-door royal draw, and of course some flopped/turned boats.

After I x/c the turn, I probably should've led out on the river.  Of course, I puke if he raises me.  I enjoyed my breakfast, was in no mood to throw it up (not until the bust-out hand where I c/rai and he beats me into the pot w/ a flopped a set... great read, Trav).

I know I could've played better, gotten less creative pre-ante.  I also could've binked an OESD.

This game, if nothing else, sure is frustrating.

$500K Gtd's maxed out, sold over 33% of the $500 NL (w/ $100 Bounties), over 37% of the $760 NL (w/ $200 Bounties), 38% of the Stud, and 23% of the $100K Gtd.

2012 Borgata Fall Open - Action Available

I've got a room at the Borgata for about seven straight nights starting on Tuesday.  There's a slew of tournaments that I'm going to play and I'm willing to part with some of the action if you're willing to part with some of your hard-earned money.

Tues 6 Nov: Arrive and settle in.  Register for Day 1B of the opener.  Reg lines can be crazy, good to get it out of the way.  Gonna splash around in some $1/$2 NL and maybe $5/$10 NL if I feel alot froggy.  We'll see.

Weds 7 Nov: Day 1A of the opener.  I'm NOT playing the tournament on Day 1A and will only be firing one (1) $560 bullet at 1B.  The prize pool's already guaranteed to be huge ($500,000), I hope to not make it huge-er.

Thurs 8 Nov: Day 1B of the $500,000 Guaranteed $560 Buy-in NL tournament.  Likely 1,500+ entrants for the whole tournament, first place could very easily be over $150,000. Sun 11 Nov: $450 Stud.  There is no guarantee on this tournament but it is on Veteran's Day.  Veterans like Stud, don't they?  I happen to be pretty good at this game.  I'm willing to sell up to about 75% of myself in this one at 1.2 MU for $405 - but if you want a smaller piece, there are other options available all the way down to $8 for 1%, etc.  Also worth noting that this tournament can be paired with the $100K Gtd NL on the next day.  Click here to see updated sales on the facebook event page and here for a link to the prices.
