hey! i tried answering an angry anonymous ask i got from someone who was angry about a little post i made about bi/pan discourse but i think i might have given inaccurate information? i want to invite you to correct me if you feel like it :0 my blog doesnt have a lot of traffic so it wont travel far either way but i thought id ask U___U✌️✌️
hi! so i read the post and for the most part it's fine.
i wouldn't say pan was "born" because of transphobia in bi spaces, it's more than it gained ground as an identity during a time when a lot of conversations about bi were very binary. which was like the '90s-ish. (and that's not to say there were no non-transphobic bi people or spaces at that time. there isn't one universal queer space or experience, so both things can be true.)
but the rest, about how people learned and things changed and both identities are inclusive and can coexist, is fine.
it's funny, though, that the anon called you "disgusting" for saying "bi pan doesn't matter just pick your favorite colors" (which isn't even an issue? like it's not that deep lmao), when the anon framed "bi vs pan" as simply being bi people responding to biphobia. which is a wildly inaccurate and unfair depiction of the situation (pan people cannot be framed as the aggressor or it even being a "both sides" thing, when "battleaxe bis" exist). they're ignoring the complete fabrication of the whole goddamn "feud" by people who want us to be at each other's throats.
there are shitty pan people. there are shitty bi people. there is not an intrinsic conflict between the two.
