Solo project of Boris Rogowski, of Cologne Germany, The Big Sleep by The Society Islands is a Bowie-meets-Air, dream pop, indie rock, head bopping album. Inspired by "the endless creative power of discontent," this piece showcases an eclectic sound, with Rogowski's vocals careening through the instruments.
Rogowski was the founding member of Die Sonne, a German psycho-pop quintet. His unique, ethereal style really makes this album stand out. The overarching theme of the album "can be read as a meditation on impossibilities. There is no way to start over with a clean slate, to change who you are or to make beauty - even happiness - last forever." The Big Sleep was released September 26th.
