Hey, leighalanna, bornamutant, can you elaborate? I'm not sure if bi women can oppress lesbians, as they're both marginalized groups that are fucked by heterosexism, but I do think bi women can enjoy privilege that lesbians cannot--what is sometimes termed "bi erasure" can function like passing.
nemesissy--I don't think anon was trying to say I'm not a gold star lesbian, since I never have defined myself as a lesbian that sometimes dates men (except for a very brief period when I was 17 and reading too much Jill Johnston), but rather have always seen myself as bi/pan/queer. I agree that there are plenty of transmisogynistic lesbians who kvetch about the purity of someone's record as one, but then degender trans men to butch lesbians of another sort when they date them, and let's not even start with their Michigan Womyn's Festival treatment of trans women, esp. trans lesbians. But I don't think that's the sort of person we're dealing with here.
