"The Borrower Bits Notes"
Note 1
The Cook.
"The Cook. That's what we call it here in Logsmouth. The big scary humanoid creature who steals people at night. People say it has a red streak across its face, eyes like an insect and no mouth to speak of. Sam tells me to not wander past Pandora. If you're reading this and you aren't from here, that's the wall Sam built around Logsmouth aaaaall by himself!! Cool, huh? Because if I do, I'll end up meeting face to face with the beast.
Of course, I don't believe him, since The Cook is just some fairytale to make young borrowers afraid of going outside Pandora, which is bullshit because there are so many cool things out there!! Like for example, last time I snuck out I found this huuuuge black and white boulder on the grass!! Isn't that awesome!!?
But unfortunately, adults hate fun, and Sam has me grounded for 3 months.
Maybe if I snuck out just....one more time?"

Borrower bits (this au is so dark o god)
Techno is one of the only borrowers that escaped successfully from the shop and meet Phil and Ranboo a while ago. And since then he plans on his revenge! So of cource he will check out the little rumor about another borrower fleeing that hell place.

Yes-
He goes back every now and then to see if he can help people escape, but the security is always too tight- but one day when he goes there and sees that the youngest is gone ("poor kid must have been eaten...") He is elated to get confirmation that they escaped-
With the help of Philza and Ranboo, they find out that Wilbur sent his kid out to go catch the youngest again ("they were so rare! You never get 'em so young! I wanted to sell it for extra- y'know, like a special") but Tubbo had never brought them back, so the consensus had been that the kid had ate the borrower ("younger ones are a delicacy, I'm telling ya")-
But for whatever reason, Techno wanted to check- there was nothing more then a feeling he had, but he convinced Phil and Ranboo to drop him off in front of Tubbo's house so he could sneak inside and look around- but is surprised to see the kid still alive and actually being able to have a name, "Tommy"
Techno obviously doesn't trust the human- they cut up, fed, and even ate borrowers themselves before! He needs to get Tommy out of there-

Borrower Facts!!

• Borrowers got their name from H.D Borrower, who first discovered them!
• Experts say Borrowers are craaazy intelligent. Some say they're nearly as smart as dolphins.

• Thanks to their very human-like vocal chords, Borrowers can actually talk! They imitate the sounds of humans around them and can store that information for up to 13 days, where they'll use those words without even knowing what they mean!
• Borrowers do not make good pets. Remember, despite how smart they are, or how much you think your borrower loves you, they are still wild animals, and will escape the minute you let your guard down. Even if you gave them an allium...

I would like to add on to the previous Borrower Bits ask because it got me thinking-
Sure the humans were out, but what about HBomb, another tiny? (idk why I love HBombs character in this au so much but I do it’s just really interesting to me, so don’t mind me ranting and adding characterization to a joke character) I doubt Fundy would take him anywhere in public because of his lack of awareness and generally annoying “maid” habits.
So maybe HBomb was vibing in the vents waiting for Fundy to get back but he sees Wilbur come into the store. And take Tommy. So he moves a bit closer to the vent entrance to see better.
And Wilbur sees him.
But Wilbur doesn’t care about this one. He raised him well. HBomb doesn’t have an opinion anymore let alone any reason to tell Tubbo or Fundy that he was ever there. So Wil just picks him up gently and puts Tommy in a pocket for now, and asks him how Fundy is doing, and if he’s been serving Fundy well. Eventually he just sets HBomb back down on the counter, patting him with his finger an telling him to “remember what I taught you, be a good pet for daddy, and let’s just keep this between us.”
But what Wilbur doesn’t know is that Fundy has been trying to unteach HBomb what Wilbur taught him, slowly trying to get him to make more and more of his own descisions, and learn to be his own person. And when he thinks about it for himself for a while, he decides that he actually likes Tommy a lot as a friend, and, if Wilbur really is as bad as Fundy, Tommy, and Tubbo say he is, he doesn’t want Tommy to suffer.
So when Fundy and Tubbo get back to the shop HBomb decides to make the first big decision he’s ever made and tell Tubbo and Fundy exactly what happened and how Wilbur took Tommy. Needless to say both humans were a mix of pissed and terrified.
But even as they drew out a plan to get Tommy back, Fundy didn’t forget to make sure HBomb knew how much he helped by disobeying Wilbur and telling them. He made sure HBomb knew how proud of him he was for sticking up for his friend and being his own person, and that he understands how hard that must be for someone who’s never been treated as an equal until now.
This actually makes a huge difference to HBomb, as the only other times he’d ever gotten rewards had been when Wilbur was training him to be a perfect pet, and if he acted the right way, he’d get a treat, or more sleep that night, or his cage would be moved to a warmer room for the night. All things he was rewarded with as Wilbur talked to him like how people talk to their pets, because that’s what Wilbur wanted to remind HBomb he was; a pet.
But hearing Fundy congratulate him like a person made him feel good. It made him feel cared for, like he actually mattered. And though Fundy knew it wouldn’t be an overnight change, and that they still had a ways to go before HBomb could function like a normal person, he couldn’t be happier at the progress his borrower friend was making.
Wow this turned out longer than I meant for it to be-
Yes-
Obviously Fundy doesn't want to reward HBomb like a pet (like how Wilbur had done) but he is sure to give HBomb several possible affirmations as to why it's so good that he's making his own desiscions (and let's them pick out their own ice cream, making sure to only give HBomb the ice cream he wants and only if he wants it- like rewarding a child for being good, and not like rewarding a pet-)
While that's happening Tubbo calls Quackity to tell him what happened (since Quackity was off that day from work at the shop) and Quackity is quick to try and calm Tubbo down over the phone as he rushes to his car to drive over
Once all the humans are together they start making a plan to save Tommy
More ideas for Borrower Bits because this was my first good AU idea like ever--
While working at the shop, Tubbo was allowed to eat any borrowers who had any major injuries or broken bones, as they would be unfit for customers. So naturally, when Tommy is eventually allowed out of his jar while Tubbo isn't home and he breaks his leg, he freaks the fuck out and tries to hide.
Tubbo is very confused by this and feels very hurt until he notices the broken leg. Oh cool he can eat this one!! He only just opens his mouth before realising what he was doing and exactly why Tommy was scared.
Instant forgiveness and comfort then happens---
Oof- yeah-
As soon as he notices Tommy's broken leg he starts to raise the borrower to his mouth instinctively- already used to eating broken ones-
But as soon as Tommy cries out and starts fighting back, Tubbo realizes what he's doing and apologizes-
He helps Tommy with their leg, and stays far away, per Tommy's fearful begging
As Tubbo watched the borrower from across the room he starts to wonder- what else had Wilbur taught him to do? What if he killed Tommy because of it- maybe Borrower Bits wasn't the best place of business after all...

Maybe Ranboo escaped the dream team instead of the shop? Like, Dream was getting cocky and playing with him and laughing until Ranboo blacks out and ender walk state fucking go feral biting and scratching and o God he got a needle and now Dream has scars on the face and Ranboo vanishes

After Dream had to deal with it, he learns that maybe he should be a little bit more careful when handling borrowers-

"Oh, I just want a look around..." A man's voice came. Tubbo froze where he stood, glancing down and behind him to see Tommy standing under the counter paralyzed. It was Wilbur.
Before Tubbo could turn around and face the inevitable, there was a loud noise that sounded like a punch- in fact when Tubbo turned around he saw Niki, his coworker for the day, had decked Wilbur so hard that the man was laying on the floor with a deep bruise already forming on his face.
"Tubbo, why don't you go to the break room?" She said in a way too innocently sweet voice. "I'll take care of this customer myself~"
Too afraid to argue, Tubbo sneakily scooped up Tommy and rushed to the break room-
