"The Cook. That's what we call it here in Logsmouth. The big scary humanoid creature who steals people at night. People say it has a red streak across its face, eyes like an insect and no mouth to speak of. Sam tells me to not wander past Pandora. If you're reading this and you aren't from here, that's the wall Sam built around Logsmouth aaaaall by himself!! Cool, huh? Because if I do, I'll end up meeting face to face with the beast.

Of course, I don't believe him, since The Cook is just some fairytale to make young borrowers afraid of going outside Pandora, which is bullshit because there are so many cool things out there!! Like for example, last time I snuck out I found this huuuuge black and white boulder on the grass!! Isn't that awesome!!?

But unfortunately, adults hate fun, and Sam has me grounded for 3 months.

Maybe if I snuck out just....one more time?"

I have heard your comments that such an extension would be illegal because it's a property of your little pretend kingdom but may I remind you kindly, sire, that I built the damn thing. I have heard your concerns that making such an extension would be dangerous to me but frankly Eret, I don't give a shit.

"Mr. Soot, I'd first off like to say am more than impressed by the food you sell here. This place has the opportunity to become something big.

I ordered the borrower ring, and I have many things to say about it.

First off, the presentation. When I sat down, I found the owner himself serving me, which was a very nice show of hard work and modesty.

I will be honest, I was rather surprised by the food still being alive while served, but after feeling all the exquisite squirming, crunching and wriggling in my mouth, I'm definitely not against it.

The taste and texture was like nothing I've ever tasted in my 30 years of reviewing resteraunts. It was like a wine mixed with a bloody taste, perfectly complimented by the carefully broiled flesh.

After finishing every borrower on my plate, I give your Borrower Bits store The Craft Award.

P.S. Wilbur, cut this out of the official print but, could you grab me a carton of milk next time you visit? Your old man needs his tea, haha, L. O. L.

Diary of a Humble Chef.

"Dear diary.

Today started out the same as yesterday and the day before. Went out and caught a few more borrowers from the back at 5, started preparing quick snacks at 6 and opened shop at 6:30.

It would've just been another boring day at the resterunt rserant rasteraunt shop, if it weren't for those cringey "borrower activists" cornering me in the alleyway after my shift. Thankfully things didn't get too ugly, all I had to do was swing my butchers knife around and scream like a crazy person to get them to leave. But still, I got a very uneasy feeling about this whole situation.

What a world we live in, where a humble chef can't even go home from work without worrying about being attacked."

Dear readers who I hope don't read this diary.

I just tried eating a Borrower for the first time! Now, I know what you're thinking. "C'mon Wilbur, first eating sand, now you're sticking bugs into your mouth? What next, fleas??" And first off, fuck you, imaginary person, fleas taste FUCKING AMAZING and so does sand. And second off, borrowers are actually like. REALLY NICE. The squirming they do when they're in your mouth, hearing their weird imitation trick, imagining there's a person in your mouth instead of just a bug is kind of a major power trip....Way more than fleas, as good as they are.

Y'know...I could probably sell these...

But what would I name the restaurant...?

The Deal

"Dear Diary.

Being a King is hard.

I have a crowd full of starving borrowers in one ear, crying about how we need to go out more and borrow more food. And in the other ear I have Sam, yelling into it that we need to build out walls twice as thick and twice as tall.

It almost makes me want to break out into song! But this is no musical.

Oh gosh, but it's just as dramatic, isn't it.

I tell you, book, being a king is hard but being a liar is harder. These people, all these people I'm doing this for them, for the little amount of food we have. When will they find o-
