Chapter Eight; Ni mir’lo’runi

‘What’s going on?’ Behind, Leia’s voice has a familiar bite to it. ‘What’s happened?’ Obi-Wan shushes her, makes eye-contact with Satine. He too looks cautious, his hand resting awkwardly against his hip, as if ready to draw a blaster. As if ready to draw his saber, Satine thinks, casually. But oh… oh. She’s looking back up at his face with wide eyes when BoShek calls out to her. Satine turns quickly, hurries down the ramp to meet him. Almost like running away, an indiscernible feeling curdling her stomach. She feels weightless. She feels too heavy. The smuggler’ stood apart from the Ugnaught, but she still waits until she’s close before speaking. ‘Where are we?’

In May of 2007, Dark Horse Comics published “Star Wars: Panel by Panel” Volume 2, whose title pages included an illustration by Tsuneo Sanda. The impressive artwork, measuring 29” x 20”, depicts 110 characters, animals, and vehicles from Dark Horse’s line of Star Wars comics. The art was also distributed as a poster for Star Wars Celebration IV, and later republished as the cover to a Hyperspace Fan Club exclusive comic in 2008. Mara Jade appears on the right side of the piece, in front of the Acklay.

BoShek was a Force-sensitive smuggler who traveled the galaxy during the Galactic Civil War. Working from an outlaw tech outpost on Tatooine, BoShek was convinced by Obi-Wan Kenobi during their brief conversation in Chalmun’s Cantina to turn to the light side in order to avoid the dangers of smuggling. BoShek did so, retiring from his former career, just after setting a new record on the Kessel Run, usurping his friends Han Solo and Chewbacca.

R4-E1 was an R4-series agromech droid who worked with the smuggler BoShek on Tatooine. Primarily tasked with vehicle computer work, R4-E1 was able to pilot multiple vehicles and developed a mischievous personality after numerous years without memory wipes.
