Qui était Anna Atkins ?

Née en 1799 à Tonbridge et décédée en 1871, Anna Atkins s’intéresse aux sciences, au botanisme et représenta la faune et la flore grace au dessin. Son intérêt se porta notamment sur les mollusques, plantes et fougères qui constituaient son temps. Il est également à noter que c’est l’une des premières femmes à avoir utilisé la photographie en adoptant le cyanotype qui est un procédé photographique qui permet d’avoir un tirage de fond bleu.  Elle lègua son célèbre herbier au British Museum de Londres en 1865, il fait aujourd’hui parti des trésors qui constituent ce musée.
