Actually hold on let me be a hater for second. What the hell was Sokka’s character in the movie?? Why did they take every part of his personality that was serious, a planner, the creative smart guy, turn that down to nothing and made him a complete clown??? Sokka’s is funny, but his humor is moreso sarcastic and dry, and the humor comes from things happening to him. In the movie, none of that was there, he was just, dare I say, stupid??

I already had a lot of issues with the characterization for everyone, but his felt so egregiously bad cause it’s so hard in our faces. “I’ve never steered a ship, only crashed it!” He still steered it though?? And speaking of that, why wasn’t Zuko’s plan, his plan?

Like the whole ship about to crash scene could’ve easily been Sokka thinking fast and formulating a good plan in real time. But nah, he just turns the wheel with his feet, and everyone laughs and says he did nothing. ALSO ALSO why didn’t he have any opinions on the Denied? As a non-bender amongst some strong benders, you’d think he’d have an opinion, maybe sympathy or pity but no?? Fuck man

AND WHY WASNT SUKI IN THIS TILL THE END CREDITS, I WANT MY FAN-SWORD COUPLE DAMNIT

Something about the way people talk about Solomon's dismissal of his vulnerability rubs me the wrong way. (I don't have any specific examples, I'm just gonna hope you know what I'm talking about lol.)

I've never seen anything inherently mean, but I have seen comments that seemingly take offense to his "just kiddings" when he expresses his feelings, whether it's romantically or talking about past hardships... And I couldn't pinpoint what it was that confused me about the fandom's responses to that until now.

What Solomon is going through in moments like those is a trauma response. And yes, while trauma responses aren't always beneficial and can sometimes be hurtful to others or the person responding that way themselves, reacting with "negativity" to said responses just makes it worse.

Solomon has an avoidant attachment style, which means he struggles with opening up and being genuine in his feelings even if he wants to. I, myself, am the same way. More often than not, I also follow up a heavier topic with "I'm sorries" or "just kiddings." The thing about this, is it's not meant to be malicious. So, when I see people taking Solomon's comments as if it's a slight to them, I just...??

I can almost guarantee that if those comments where said to him right after he'd attempted to open up, even if it had good intentions, it'd probably make him want to close back up completely. Because there's no patience to his avoidance, no acceptance to why he behaves that way. There's just this perception of not being understood or that his feelings/thoughts aren't safe. It just feels like he's not allowed any grace.

Thank you :> I am not 100% sure yet where I think Ram would fall in that regard, but I am sure that I like him very much 😳 Robots are hard for me to draw & I've been enjoying my steady build in ability to draw the hu-mans, but Ramattra is like the "ah, so THIS is what the robot fuckers are on about" character. So I feel like the second I get the drive to attempt a halfway decent robo draw, he's first on the list for it.

I've said from the start, waayyyyyy back, that I drew sassy Zen as inspiration struck for it, and it's just that inspiration hasn't struck in a while. But he's getting some fun new lines with people, & some pretty good stuff with Ramattra – I've been tempted more than once recently, let's just say.
