My little Trash Lady!
Journal Assignment #5
Topic: Upcycled art
There’s an old bottle dump in my back woods, so I used some bits and bobs of glass and car parts to construct this lovely gal! I added wear and tear to her painted face to make her seem like an old toy or figurine. I’m not entirely happy with how she turned out, but my art teacher left the loveliest comment about her!
Scavenging the old bottle dump, found this beauty. It’ll scrub up well.
Note: It’s a Virol bottle from the 1920s or 30s. Yum!
Some finds!
Turns out there’s an old bottle dump in my back woods from when it was still a dairy farm, and people have still been throwing trash there for decades when construction was going on (🙁). There’s practically a whole bathroom out there, as well as many tires and part of a car. It may be disheartening from an environmental perspective, but there are tons of knick knacks (and history!) to be unearthed for those archaeologically-excited folks.
