Other brew news
This weekend I didn't get to brewing a 5-gallon batch of my Westvleteren 12 clone...hopefully Labor Day weekend will provide time for this.
Also, I've gotten a few bottle bombs from my Vienna Steam Lager. The beer is drinking well, tastes clean, and isn't showing any sign of affection. It isn't as brilliantly clear as I would've wished, but otherwise came out well with a really nice malty-sweetness, orange color, and nice clean noble hop taste.
Before I bottled, the beer was chilled as it lagered in my basement swamp cooler. I over-primed before bottling due to not adapting to the cooler temps of the beer (i.e. I primed it as if it were at room temperature). However, I still added significantly less sugar than I put in my Dunkelweizen, which also experienced a few bottle bombs. So, I guess temperature at bottling is quite important! I will be more careful.
