Heyy, I don't think I've ever said anything to you before but I really love your blog and teh fix reccs, I'm kinda new to the fandom and was wondering if you could recc ms any bottom Louis fics that don't feel out of character or like just about a smutty trope
Hi sweetheart. Welcome to the fandom! I’d love to rec that for you, but I don’t keep track of fic based on who tops or bottoms, and I’ve read so many that I’m not sure my memory can be trusted.
The best I can do is offer some fics I love that are either tagged or I happen to remember as bottom Louis. At the same time, so many fics I read have them characterized as vers, so... please don’t think this is all there is.
Hats Off To My Distant Hope by orphan_account (E, 21K) This was such a pleasure to read. The writing feels so effortless as the fic explores the deep emotions of these two characters. They’re stubborn and inarticulate and gentle and passionate and finally, finally open up to each other. I really wish I knew who wrote it because I’d love to read more of their work.
But If This Ends by nonsensedarling / @absoloutenonsense (E, 107K) This author referred to this fic as their “depressed vampire” fic while they were writing, and it is that. But it’s also a unique story with beautifully fleshed out characters, plot twists, and super hot smut. Go check it out! Link is to a download
Lollipop by Speechless / @johnnymignotta (E, 29K I loved the first chapter, and had resigned myself to the fact that it would forever remain a WIP. But the author came back and made it so much deeper and more moving than I could have hoped. They did a beautiful job of exploring Louis' pain, confusion, and desperation. Harry was patient and kind, but never felt like a push over. Most of all I could really feel how much Louis loved and needed Harry, and how much that scared him. The writing is really sparse, in the best kind of way.

an entire desert in our hourglass by tofiveohfive / @sunflowrsix (E, 20K) I told the author that I really appreciated the pain they wove into this story because they did such a good job making the emotions relatable –– even with a pre-apocalyptic setting –– so the feeling cut even deeper. Such a good read. And even though the tags said there was a happy ending (which there is), I still cried buckets.
Etched in Salt (is a cathedral of the world) by @helloamhere (E, 24K) You all know I love this author’s writing –– this time they give us a dark, American, thriller with a bit of psychic goodness. Bonus points for Harry taking care of Louis in a very deep way.
Make Your Words A Weapon by @helloamhere (E, 36K) I read this a second time recently, and it’s even better than I remembered. I love everything this author writes. This one just really hit me hard for whatever reason. Maybe it’s the way they explore Louis’ anxiety and coping mechanisms and pain and the way he pushes people away and protects himself, but also wants someone to push back just a bit and love him despite all of that. And the way Harry is the perfect foil for all of it, while also feeling like a fully developed character himself. Yeah, it’s probably all of that. Plus soul marks!
So much stays unknown till the time comes by becka (E, 5K) Another old one by another author I really like. A short time travel fic that is both sad and sexy. It’s got a bit of an open ending, but you still get the sense everything is going to work out. It’s just a touching little fic (read tags, there’s some internalized homophobia in this one).
Night Out by @helloamhere (E, 10K) Prequel to the fic below. This one introduces the characters with lots of banter and a super sexy one night stand/semi-public sex scene.
Saving Symphony Hall by @helloamhere (E, 125K) I’ve recommended this one quite a bit because it’s just chock full of so much wonderful stuff – great story, great OT5 friendships, great banter, sexy smut…so much good stuff. In addition I really enjoyed how Harry as an artist was fleshed out. I also really liked the juxtaposition of Artist Harry (who’s also an Alpha) and data driven/left brain Louis (who’s also an Omega). A great read.
Just Let Me by @helloamhere (E, 15K) I don’t know how many ways to say this author writes like a dream, but I can’t help recommending them again. The characterizations are so lovely in this one and I really enjoyed the pining and sense of hurt/comfort woven through this fic.
Tug-of-War by cherrystreet (E, 63K) I read this one a while ago, so I can’t remember a lot of specifics, but this author is pretty much a sure bet. My notes on this one make me chuckle: “So touching. Tears. Great characterizations. Angst is heart breaking, but relatively brief. Smut is hot af”. Well, there you go!
Close to Nowhere by @angelichl (E, 35K) I really enjoyed the unique story and the way Harry and Louis relate to each other in this one. It’s fun and quirky and sexy and keeps you on the edge until the end. Definitely worth checking out. Both Harry and Louis are psychics.
we've got the world in our hands by sarcasticfluentry (E, 55K) A Mutants AU. I read this one ages ago with very little interest in superhero movies and I literally couldn’t put this down. It’s just really well paced and has great dialogue and characterizations and I could easily read this fic if it’d had been twice as long.
like an animal (i wanna feel you from the inside) by @bottomlinsons (E, 4K) Just a funny little crack fic involving a piercing and an embarrassing trip to the hospital. I love this one. Link is to a download.
Right Side of the Wrong Bed by eyesofshinigami (E, 11K) Louis’ internal monologue makes this one so quirky and fun. It’s just a lighthearted meet cute with a dash of some good smut
someone who knows how to ride by orphan_account (E, 3K) I’m a complete sucker for power bottom Louis / service top Harry. This one is 3K of stupid hot smut and I love it.
want it all the time, need it everyday by swallowsmateforlife (E, 6K) I read this ages ago, so I could be off about the characterizations, but at the time, my notes said: “just a really sweet, sexy slice of life fic. Snapshots of moments in time of the two of them just being together and enjoying each other and loving each other, deeply.”
just a flicker in the dark by @falsegoodnight (E, 57K) I just finished this one last night and it was so good! The super original story and great pacing definitely had me on the edge of my seat. It had everything in it: hate to love, exes to lovers, scary supernatural elements, warm friendships, plus a sexy and emotional smut scene. Highly recommend it!
Emperor's New Clothes by sunsetmog (E, 92K) This one is super painful and emotional, but so well written and I found it deeply moving.
Singing To Tiny Dancer by BriaMaria / @briannamarguerite (E, 23K) I feel like I keep saying the same things but this author always gets my heart. Famous Louis this time, escaping his super star life and returning to the (home town, not famous) boy he used to know. *clutches heart and swoons*
call you mine by @falsegoodnight (E, 13K) Vampire Harry sets out to prove that being bit by a vampire is much better than Louis thinks it is. Sexy friends to lovers goodness!
210 Days by cherrystreet (E, 16K) This was a really emotional fic (this author likes to put us through it) and a beautifully written one using letters sent back and forth between Harry on deployment and Louis back home.
Never Be by cherrystreet (E, 118K) I wish I had taken notes on this one when I read it ages ago. But I know this author really delivers with the way they write, so I feel confident adding it here. Plus, it’s inspired by an episode of Friends, so...
a virgin to that money by eversincewefellapart (E, 7K) Broke univeristy students who don’t really like each other agree to make a sex tape for money. What could go wrong? This one is sharp, funny, and sexy.
You can't blame gravity (for falling in love) by star_k / @perfectdagger (E, 28K) This is just charming and sexy and I loved how Louis doesn’t try to change Marcel.
Nicotine by KrisStylinson (E, 32K) “Bad Boy Harry” who really is a good guy. This was written at a time when there were a lot of fics with this characterization of Harry. I was pretty new to reading fic when I read this one, so my memory of it could be really off, but I liked it a lot back then.
kiwi by fondleeds (M, 24K) honestly I have trouble putting down anything this author writes…they just build a setting and detail characters in a way that I find really compelling. This one maybe feels slightly OOC, but it’s such a good read I didn’t care at all.
Lay So Still by yougotmetieddown (E, 3K) This one is really hot kink exploration with great dialogue and dirty talk. Plus, you really get a sense of their relationship dynamic even though it's a PWP
