The other portion of my quick trip up to Acadia was to grab some night sky images. Originally there were reports we'd see the Aurora Borealis, but that never materialized. Thankfully, the Milky Way is now visible in the Northern Hemisphere, so that was plan B. @kristenwilkinsonphotography and I headed over to Boulder Beach in the wee hours (2:30am) and I was able to make this image of the Milky Way over Otter Cliff. It's an image I've dreamed of making for a long time, so I was thrilled to finally make it happen. There is something incredible about sitting on a rock, with a soft breeze blowing, waves crashing on the shoreline, with so many stars glowing above that you can't begin to count them all. Another image from last week in Acadia. This was shot at sunrise the morning after the big storm. The waves were still bigger than usual but not nearly as big as they had been. The sun was just about to come up and the waves began to glow as they began to curl on top of themselves and crash on Boulder Beach. While lots of people will tell you the best place in Acadia for sunrise is Cadillac Mountain, for me, Boulder Beach beats it by a mile.
