Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said and did a lot of things. Most of us only heard and saw a sliver of these things as we grew up. As we continue to recognize his service and ultimate sacrifice, I hope we all push past the typical things we hear and see and realize that Dr. King was bout that action, boss (c) Marshawn Lynch. He had a team of people with him (message) and he went out and did what he believed was necessary with respect to his goals. #tbt Undisclosed location in SWA | May 2011 I initially was introduced to CrossFit from some homies in high school. I was being Uncle Creepy on the gram and saw some pics of them flipping tires and squatting cinder blocks so I had to get down when I came back for Christmas that year. When I hoisted each leg one at a time out of the car for Christmas dinner, I knew another inflection point in my life had been seeded and taken root. I drove back to El Paso that winter addicted, turning to YouTube to learn more. Unbeknownst to myself, I was also forming bad tendencies. My spine curved like a turtle shell on deads, cleans looked like violent reverse curls, and I didn't even know I could use my legs for snatching. My body hurt all the time, but you just chug some water and keep the party rolling #BoutThatActionBoss The gym we had contained the hand me downs from Kuwait which was better than overhead arm claps for 10 months. I had to improv or bake a fupa. We didn't have boxes, so I used the 36" VBIED barriers for box jumps. My buddy Tony caught me one morning and asked where I got my workouts. "I go to this site bruh, and it tells me what to do." He started working out with me the next day with the Filthy 50. I caught a shin coming off the barrier. The flap of skin was compressed at the top like a bungee cord. I packed it with dirt to clot it, and kept it rolling. He chuckled and extended a fist. Respect👊🏽 Months went on, so we had to get creative without a prowler. Sometimes we would put on our gas masks and throw the Durango in neutral to push around base. He lost 50 something lbs on the routine, and I had a workout buddy that pushed me. We were in the double-wide one day when he showed me a few videos. "They actually compete in CrossFit. Here's some videos. I can see you doing this, I think you'd be real good!" It was humbling, but I didn't think much of it.
