There are not many AUs I invested in. But the Brother of Wind AU by @ventohanto is one of my favorites and also the first AU I was fan of.
So, I drew some of my favorites.
Took me literally 30 minutes to find Hōkai's design and I didn't even got his hair right...
Also drew a scene from the day of the departed book chapter 4.
Spoiler if you haven't read until that point.
I am absolutely delusional about these two. And I will probably cry the next time Neran is mentioned. I love these two so much! Crimsonwind will be my all time favorite ship.
“Don’t put that on him, that’s stupid,” Taemin said.
“It’s adorable, shut up,” Minho argued, clasping the little bow-shaped-clip on the baby’s tuft of hair.
Taemin rolled his eyes from where he was standing on the other side of the bed, packing things away in the diaper bag and sending disgusted glances at the outfit Minho was wrangling their baby in to.
Kibum, their three-month-old pride and joy, was gurgling away with a smile on his face. He was such a smiley baby. But Taemin thought he needed to stop smiling at all the bows Minho put in his hair.
“If our kid ends up with an obsession with hair bows, I’m blaming you,” Taemin said, going over to Minho with the diaper bag slung over his shoulder and his arms crossed.
Minho smirked, picked Kibum up, and had him smiling at Taemin.
“He’s so cute,” Minho gushed.
“He looks like a cabbage patch doll,” Taemin said. He leaned over and pouted at Kibum’s little face, “You don’t like that dumb thing on your head, do you? It looks stupid, doesn’t it?”
Taemin reached out and unclipped the bow, despite Minho’s protests, but when the bow left Kibum’s head, the baby started whining, which turned into crying. Taemin’s face fell, and he looked up at Minho with the biggest, most dumb-struck expression.
Minho only laughed at him.
“Put the stupid bow back on his head,” Minho said, his eyes crinkled up as his face lit up into a shit-eating grin.
“You two and your stupid bows,” Taemin grumbled, clipping the bow back on Kibum’s head.
Kibum immediately stopped crying, and he looked at Taemin with big, wide eyes. Taemin let out a huff of a sigh and straightened up.
“Give me my baby, you stupid, baby-brain-corrupting, bow-wearing nerd,” Taemin mumbled, taking Kibum into his arms and holding him close to his chest. “We need to get to Jinki’s, and when my family all questions why our son has a bow on his head, I’m telling them all it’s your fault.”
Minho only laughed and followed after Taemin to the car.
bow au and taemin has been alone with baby kibum for the last few days while minho was away for a game. he’s at his wit’s end, he’s exhausted, and all he wants to do is take a nap but kibum won’t stop crying. the baby is literally so loud that taemin didn’t even hear the front door open, he just stayed in the nursery bouncing kibum around on his hip and mumbling something vaguely similar to a lullaby.
“seriously, kibummie, when have i ever not fed you?” taemin asked the baby as he held a bottle up to the baby’s mouth.
taemin swore kibum was already rolling his eyes at the ripe old age of six months. this kid was going to drive him nuts once he started talking, taemin could already tell.
when minho walked into the nursery a moment later, his hello left taemin flinching half his life away and spilling the baby’s bottle down kibum’s chin.
“you’re home,” taemin croaked, his voice somewhere between relieved and frightened. “when did you get home?”
“just now,” minho said, walking over and petting the hair on kibum’s little head. “how’s the baby?”
“grumpy.”
“he missed his papa,” minho cooed, poking kibum’s cheek.
“more like he’s been gassy all day. do me a favor and burp him, would you?”
taemin handed the baby off to minho and left the nursery, and minho was left bouncing kibum in his arms and making sure the bottle didn’t fall out of the baby’s hands. not five minutes after kibum finished the bottle, the baby spit up all over the front of minho’s shirt and on part of the floor.
“babe,” minho called, holding kibum out in front of him, “he threw up everywhere!”
when taemin didn’t answer after he was called a second time, minho pouted at the baby in front of him and wiped up his chin.
“papa will clean you up then,” minho said to kibum, smiling and poking his little nose.
he wiped up kibum’s chin and set him in his crib before taking off his own soiled shirt to wipe up the mess on the floor.
“let’s go see where daddy went,” minho told kibum, and he picked the baby back up to go look around the house.
the two of them found taemin passed out on their bed, and minho laughed and looked at the baby in his arms.
“looks like daddy needed a little nap,” minho whispered to kibum, who cooed right back at him. “let’s go make daddy dinner, hmm?”
an hour later, taemin came barreling down the hall and into the kitchen, and he put a hand to his chest and let out a deep breath when he saw minho holding kibum on his hip and making dinner.
“i forgot you came home,” taemin admitted. “couldn’t find him in his crib, oh my god.”
“he’s fine,” minho told him. “we made dinner.”
taemin stood in the archway of the kitchen for a moment just staring at minho before walking forward, huffing, and taking the baby into his own arms.
“go put on a shirt, loser,” taemin mumbled. “you’re so dumb.”
minho chose to smirk and wrap taemin up in a very big, very bare-chested hug instead.
Love the 2min parents au! How are Kibum's teen years like? And how does he get a lot of attention for being the child of a famous soccer player?
“Will Papa hate me if I don’t wanna play soccer anymore?” Kibum asked Taemin one day when he was thirteen. Taemin looked up from where he was packing Kibum’s school lunch and frowned at him.
“Papa would never hate you,” Taemin assured him, “especially not for something like that. Papa and I will always love you no matter what.”
Kibum only shrugged where he was sitting at the kitchen table, twirling his spoon around in his half-eaten bowl of cereal. Speaking of soccer, though, Kibum had practice after school, and Taemin needed to make sure he packed an extra snack for him to eat after school.
“Did you want to quit right now?” Taemin asked. “Do you not like playing on the school team?”
“No, I do,” Kibum said, and he sighed. “I just - I don’t wanna play in high school.”
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Taemin told him. “We can talk more about it when we’re all home tonight, with Papa. Now go get your things and get in the car, or you’ll be late for school.”
Kibum groaned and trudged over to the sink to put his bowl and spoon in it, and then he went to get his backpack and his soccer bag.
As Taemin dropped Kibum off at school, he told him to have a good day and to be good.
“Remember that Papa is picking you up after practice, not me,” Taemin reminded him.
“Don’t tell Papa about what I said,” Kibum begged. “Not until tonight.”
“I won’t tell him, I promise,” Taemin said. “Have a good day. Love you!”
Kibum grumbled out a nearly silent, “Love you too,” and closed the car door. Taemin laughed the entire way out of the drop-off line, because it really was too easy to make Kibum flustered. He was so grumbly now that he was a little teenager, and he always got so embarrassed whenever Taemin or Minho said “I love you” to him in public. Taemin thought it was adorable, in a hilarious sort of way.
That night at dinner, Kibum pushed around his food and kept glancing at Minho. When Minho finally asked if something was wrong, Kibum held his face up with his free hand and pushed more of his food around with the other.
“I don’t wanna play soccer in high school,” Kibum said quietly.
“Okay, that’s fine. How was school today?” Minho asked.
Kibum scrunched his face up and stared at Minho.
“You’re not mad?”
“Why would I be mad?” Minho asked with a laugh. “Is there a reason you don’t want to play that would make me mad?”
Kibum’s lips flattened out into a straight line, and he looked down at his plate.
“Kibum, what’s wrong?” Taemin asked. “Why don’t you wanna play?”
“It’s just,” Kibum huffed, digging his cheek into his fist, “I wanna try out for the dance team, but if I make it onto dance team then I can’t play soccer because they overlap or something.”
Taemin and Minho both laughed, and Minho reached over to rub Kibum’s shoulder.
“You made it sound like you were being bullied or something, baby,” Minho said. “It’s perfectly fine if you want to do something besides soccer.”
“You didn’t tell me you were so interested in dancing!” Taemin said, leaning forward and grinning at Kibum in that annoying parent sort of way. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Kibum groaned and sank into his seat.
“Because what if I’m not good enough and I don’t make the team?” Kibum whined.
“Then I sign you up for my competition team and make you my little star,” Taemin said.
“That’s nepotism,” Kibum accused of him.
“So what? It’s practically my studio now anyways,” Taemin said with a shrug. “But don’t worry so much about try outs and just go and have fun. If you don’t make it, you don’t make it. It’s not a big deal.”
Kibum rolled his eyes and jabbed his fork into a piece of chicken to shove in his mouth.
“Life isn’t all fun and games,” Kibum grumbled.
“You’re too young to be that bitter,” Minho teased him. “Just have fun. All we want for you is to have fun. Now tell me about how your day was.”
“It was fine,” Kibum mumbled.
“Just fine? That’s all we ever get from you nowadays, ‘fine, fine, fine,’“ Taemin said. “What did you learn today?”
“Nothing.”
“Well I’m so glad we’re paying for this high-end education if you don’t learn anything,” Minho teased.
Kibum looked at him with an unimpressed expression and shoved a green bean in his mouth.
“At least he’s eating his vegetables,” Taemin said, smirking when Kibum turned and narrowed his eyes at him.
“I’m not a baby,” Kibum said.
“But you’re our baby,” Taemin told him.
“Can I go to my room?” Kibum groaned, shoving his plate away from him.
“Tell us one thing you learned at school today, and then you can go to your room,” Minho bargained with him.
Kibum groaned, thought for a minute, and then said, “I learned that math is hard and I don’t like it.”
“What about math is hard and makes you not like it?” Taemin asked.
“That stupid foil thing,” Kibum groaned. “I don’t get it.”
“First-outer-inner-last,” Minho said. “I’ll help you with it when you do your homework if you want.”
“Fine,” Kibum groaned. “Can I go now?”
“Go, go,” Minho said, shooing him away. “Let me know if you need any help on your homework.”
Kibum stomped down the hallway to his room, but Taemin was just thankful he didn’t slam is door closed. He was getting a lot moodier now that he was a little teenager.
“Are you disappointed your son doesn’t want to be a soccer star like you?” Taemin asked as they cleaned up the dishes.
“A little bit,” Minho admitted. “But so long as he’s happy, that’s all that matters.”
“I’m glad you’re not super overbearing with the whole soccer thing,” Taemin said, leaning up to kiss Minho’s cheek. “I think it’s intimidating for him.”
“I would love him even if he told me he hated soccer with a passion,” Minho said. “I’m just sad he has so much potential and doesn’t want to use it.”
“Just don’t tell him that,” Taemin said. “He was very nervous about telling you he didn’t want to play anymore.”
“I know, I know,” Minho sighed.
Taemin stood on his toes and kissed Minho’s cheek one more time before bumping him with his hip and telling him to go away.
“I’ll finish cleaning, you go help him with his homework,” Taemin said.
“Kibum!” Minho called as he walked out of the kitchen. “Homework time!”
Kibum groaned loudly from his room, and Taemin chuckled to himself. He was very glad he wasn’t the one who was helping him with his homework tonight. Kibum was getting more annoyed everyday with how they always checked that his homework was done.
Kibum as 2min's baby is the cutest thing ever. Can you write more, maybe him as a toddler? And 2min probably going crazy with him (or possibly Minho teaming up with baby Kibum to drive Taemin crazy, hahaha). Thank you, I love your au's!!
When Taemin and Minho first talked about having a baby, Minho always said he was going to retire from his soccer career the moment they had a child together. That one promise was what allowed Taemin to finally cave and actually take the baby talk Minho kept bringing up seriously. “We could adopt,” Minho said, “or maybe we can have a surrogate or something. Let’s have a baby, babe.”
Taemin really counted on Minho retiring for this whole baby thing to work.
But now, a surrogate, one baby, and two years later, Minho still hadn’t retired from his soccer career, and Taemin was running ragged.
“Please just put them on, baby,” Taemin begged, trying to wrestle Kibum into a pair of pants.
“No,” Kibum said, a giggle leaving his mouth as he ripped himself away from Taemin and ran out of the room. “Want Papa!”
Taemin fell onto the toddler’s bed and buried his face in one of the stuffed animals. This was getting to be too much for him, and even all the help his parents and brother were giving him wasn’t helping him much.
Minho was out of town for a game. Again.
Kibum missed him. Again.
Taemin was ready to lock Kibum in his bedroom and drink himself into a stupor. Again.
Except Taemin had rehearsals and a show tonight, and he needed to be out of the house ten minutes ago to get Kibum to his brother’s house and make it to the theater on time.
He told Minho again and again that quitting his dancing career wasn’t an option. There wasn’t a whole lot Taemin could do for a decent amount of money in this industry, and he was one of the principal dancer in this company. He couldn’t quit now. But Minho was well within the retiring age for a soccer player - he’d been doing this for years - and he could easily become a couch, or a game announcer, or something. Minho had a big name in the sports industry, he could do whatever he wanted.
Besides, Minho readily agreed to quit before the baby actually came along. Now, with Kibum two years old and getting more and more opinionated every day, it was starting to become a problem that Minho wasn’t home a whole lot.
“Do you want to go to Uncle Jinki’s without your pants on? Because if you don’t come put your clothes on right now, that’s how we’re leaving, Kibum,” Taemin called out, hurrying out of Kibum’s room and into the living room.
“Fine!”
Taemin took a deep breath, shoved the pair of pants into the bag he packed for Kibum to have at Jinki’s and went to wrangle the toddler into the car.
“Fine, we’re leaving,” Taemin said, pulling Kibum into his arms.
Kibum screamed and yelled and kicked his little legs all the way out to the car, and he cried and screamed the whole car ride to Jinki’s house. Today was not a good day.
When Taemin dropped Kibum off at Jinki’s, he pulled Kibum close to him to give him a kiss and hug him.
“Daddy loves you,” Taemin said, kissing Kibum’s cheek. “I won’t be able to come pick you up until you’re fast asleep, so be good for Uncle Jinki and Auntie Luna, okay?”
“Don’t leave,” Kibum whined, hooking his arms around Taemin’s neck and crying.
“Daddy will be back, baby,” Taemin whispered. “But I have to go now. Be a good boy.”
Jinki had to pry Kibum off of Taemin, and it broke Taemin’s heart to hear his son crying so hard as he was leaving.
After a whole night of performances, Taemin walked back into his house with Kibum sleeping heavily in his arms. Taemin was just thankful Jinki and Luna managed to get Kibum into his pajamas.
He walked into his bedroom and put Kibum in the middle of the bed before changing his clothes and getting in the bed with him. Kibum always slept in his bed when Minho wasn’t home. It made him feel better.
The next morning, Taemin was standing at the stove with Kibum held at his hip. Kibum had his thumb in his mouth, his eyes were barely open, and he was drooling all over Taemin’s shoulder. Taemin just rocked him back and forth while he cooked the scrambled eggs they were going to have for breakfast.
That was pretty much how their entire day went. Kibum clung to Taemin while Taemin just held him close and rubbed his back. Kibum was always clingy when he had to fall asleep before Taemin could pick him up.
“Daddy has another performance tonight, baby,” Taemin said softly, smoothing down Kibum’s hair.
“No.”
“Yes,” Taemin said, kissing his head. “But it’s earlier today, so Daddy will come get you before you have to go to sleep.”
“Want Daddy to stay home,” Kibum whined.
“I know, baby, I know,” Taemin cooed, rocking Kibum back and forth.
Kibum cried when Taemin dropped him off again. Taemin gripped the steering wheel tight as he drove to the theater, trying not to cry himself. This was really getting to be too much for him.
Minho was back home the next week, but Kibum would barely acknowledge him.
“He’s upset,” Taemin told him. “You were gone for a long time.”
“It was a tournament, babe, it happens,” Minho said. “Why are you both so upset?”
“Because you were gone for two weeks!” Taemin said. “I feel like a single parent half the time, Minho, I can’t keep doing this.”
“Taemin-”
“You said you were going to stop being a player when we had a baby. Well newsflash, the baby is two years old now. You haven’t stopped,” Taemin said. “One day, you’re gonna come home and Kibum won’t know who you are.”
Taemin didn’t even look at Minho before he went to go find where Kibum had run off to.
A month later, Minho announced that he was going to retire from playing at the end of the season.
“You and Kibum are more important to me than playing,” Minho whispered one night while Kibum slept in the bed between the two of them.
So what happened after Minho stopped playing soccer? Did they have a family day?
After Minho announced that he was going to retire as a player at the end of that season, there was an uproar amongst his fans. When he then announced that it was because he wanted to spend more time with his family, the fans remembered that he had a husband and a two year old son. There were so many more pictures of Taemin and Kibum at Minho’s soccer games after that, and fans would scope them out so they could get a picture of their favorite player’s family cheering him on.
Whenever they could, Taemin would bring Kibum to Minho’s games. They would both wear fan version of Minho’s jersey, and they had team scarves and hats and everything. Kibum loved it most when Taemin would hold him up so he could wave the scarf around and cheer on his papa.
There were a number of videos going around of Taemin holding Kibum up while the toddler yelled, “Goal Papa! Goal!”
Kibum always cheered like that whenever Minho had the ball. It was adorable. Taemin would bounce Kibum on his hip and say, “Papa has the ball,” and Kibum would squeak and start cheering for him to make a goal.
On the last game of the season, after Minho scored the winning goal, Minho pulled Taemin and Kibum onto the field to celebrate the win with him. He pulled Taemin in for a kiss and had Kibum sit on his shoulders.
“Papa won,” Kibum cheered, his little fingers tugging on handfuls of Minho’s hair.
Minho only laughed, winced a bit at Kibum tugging on his hair, and kissed Taemin again before disappearing into the crowd.
Not even a week after the last game, Minho was offered a spot on one of the big sport’s channels to be a commentator. The commute wouldn’t be bad, the hours were decent, and he would be home a hell of a lot more than he had been.
When he told Taemin and Kibum about it, Kibum scrunched his face up into a smile and reached out to squeeze Minho’s cheeks in his little hands.
“Papa stay home,” Kibum told him.
“Papa’s gonna stay home more,” Minho said, “promise.”
Now that he didn’t have practice and games, he had a lot more time to spend with his family. There were a whole lot paparazzi pictures of the three of them going to the park and teaching Kibum how to play soccer. It looked like Minho would be quite the Pee Wee soccer coach in the years to come.
more from bow au? are jonghyun and onew part of it in any way?
i think i mentioned it once but onew is taemin’s brother and he watches kibum a lot when taemin has work and minho is out of town.
jonghyun has yet to make an appearance, but he’s onew’s son and is like a year older than kibum. jonghyun and kibum just run amok whenever they’re together.
also when jonghyun is 8 and kibum is 7, taemin goes yelling to onew one day because
“BROTHER! WHY IS YOUR KID TELLING MY KID THAT SEX IS ‘NAKED KISSING’ WHAT THE HELL KIND OF TV DO YOU LET YOUR KID WATCH”
meanwhile minho is just laughing in the background over “naked kissing”
kibum just came home one day after playing at onew’s house talking about “sexy ladies” and “naked kissing” and omg taemin nearly stopped breathing
for bow au, what about when kibum has his first date and the guy comes over their house to pick kibum up? how will 2min react?
honestly, kibum probably doesn’t actually start dating in this au until he’s in college, and by then he’s living on campus away from his parents, so it’s not such a big deal. plus, none of the people he dates are ever very serious until he’s about 22, so by then if taemin and minho meet them, they’re more like
“okay so when are you getting married when are we gonna be grandparents kibum give us grandchildren”
so basically they react very well, if not really embarrassingly. also, kibum probably ends up with a girl in this au. minho and taemin are very supportive. they want grandchildren and they want them now. minho is especially embarrassing when it comes to talk about kibum having kids. he just wants to spoil lil grandbabies.
