One of my favourite things to obsess over about a piece of media is actually it's ending. Like... what song did they choose to play after the film ended for people to leave the cinema to? Why? What scene/line did they end with? What was the last shot just before the credits? In a book, what was the last line? Why is it always heartachingly beautiful?? In am album, what was the last track? Why was THAT ridiculously beautiful? WHY do all of those tracks always NEVER miss?
Basically: what impression did these people want to leave?
Also... For my current personal highlights:
-For songs during credits, see One Battle After Another, Marty Supreme, and La Cocina
-For impeccable last scenes/shots before the credits see Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Frankenstein, The Last of Us Part One (game), Upright, and Boy (also Marty Supreme again gets a very honoured shout-out)
-For best book ending lines see The Fault in Our Stars, The Safekeep, Fingersmith, and Milk Teeth
-For best ending tracks in albums see A Complicated Woman, Hugo, Self Titled, The Art of Loving, and Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not
Basically TLDR I love the endings of good media because they're always ridiculously beautiful. They really put their best foot forwards with them and I'm OBSESSED with that
Also ending title cards of films and the last lines of books always make me cry no matter what and WHAT OF IT. WHAT OF IT
