Pear Upside Down Cake

I decided I wanted to bake and told the boyfriend I'd make anything his heart desired. The odd part? He requested "the cake thingy that has pears that are dark on top". I translated this as "Pear Upside Down Cake". Upon eating it (ok more like devouring it), he said I was spot on in creating the "caky thingy that has pears that are dark on top". Yay for me? It's just a basic vanilla cake spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger and I threw in pear cubes in the batter. The "top" (also known as the bottom of the cake pan) are red pears, and caramel sauce.
