Understanding and Appreciating Genocide Route - Undertale Thoughts
I’ve put a lot of thought into this and I really needed to get it off my chest.
Of course people appreciate the genocide route in Undertale. But I wanted to delve into the why.
First off, I will clarify that I am a True Pacifist lover, and also will never play the genocide route to its fullest. (The obvious reason being Papyrus.) I of course watch other people play it just fine, which by Flowey’s standards makes me a “cowardly sicko”, but I don’t care.
I understand that there are quite a lot of people who feel the same way, people who are afraid of playing Geno Run. I’ve heard these people say that once they had finished pacifist, they put the game down, afraid of ever touching it again. I think this is wrong. As a youtuber put it, (can’t remember who, sorry) in his opinion, the flaw with Undertale is that it’s a toy that asks you not to play with it, because it is taking advantage of our attachment to fiction. While I agree that that’s partially true, I still disagree. Undertale is a game that WANTS you to play with it. It WANTS you to find all of its secrets, even the dark ones. But here’s the thing. The people who think this way feel that there are only two ways to play it. Heck, people act like there’s only three ways to play it. Which is incorrect. Sure, maybe I won’t “finish” a geno run, but I might consider starting one. (Just to spare senpai, hehe.) I’ve played true pacifist, but I’ve also played a couple of neutrals. Maybe you have a special place in your heart for one or two characters, and that’s excellent. No one says you have to be a psychopath. (Be a sociopath instead!) ((Yes there’s a difference.)) So I most certainly encourage you to replay the game, even if it’s a really measly neutral. Heck, replay the game even if you’re just gonna do pacifist five times in a row. You should never feel like you can’t play with one of your favorite toys.
Genocide Route of Undertale is extremely important. The story is simply not complete without it.
I feel that perhaps we are too obsessed with it though. Maybe it’s because it’s so dark or shocking that people want to talk about it, but for me personally, it’s needed to be the other side of Undertale’s coin. As a lover of Pacifist, I appreciate what geno has to offer, and its contrast helps me appreciate Pacifist Route even more.
With how dark and depressing life is, we should really be celebrating Pacifist Run more. In fact, I highly highly encourage you to read this rant on the subject by bPAVLICA on deviantART. Please read it.

...Goodbye.
I was experimenting with digital sketching, and ended up with this. (Now if only I could sketch this well traditionally lmao)
The other day I was thinking about how I like drawing Undyne huge 'cause she’s a monster, and Asgore is even bigger than her so... I wanted to draw him too.
For reference, the human on the picture (me) is not a kid. I’m not tall by any means, but I’m still adult human-sized. And I have my little crowbar with me. Also, Asgore is rocking the same bling as on this picture
Either way, this was a nicely emotional and simplistic piece to work on, with 5 versions of ASGORE soundtrack playing in the background as I was drawing.
(PS; you can see a clearer/bigger version on deviantART)
