Two women in love, the sweetest, feminine love!
Me, then!
My early attempts for dressing fem were not particularly sophisticated. 😅
Let me know if it's a SMASH 😊 or a PASS😦
Women's Inner (spaghetti strap top) covering a bra
ATTENTION ALL BRA WEARERS!!!! THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
so as I'm sure you're aware, bras can have many design flaws. One in particular is the straps falling down the shoulders. This was really bugging me today and no matter how tight or loose I adjusted them, they ended up around my arms. I did some research and found that all the solutions suck... so I made my own!!! It took an hour tops even though I was doing trial and error. And I think it looks pretty good and feels no less comfortable than a normal bra.
Notice how the straps do not slip down despite my guitar having sloping shoulders!
I didn't really do process pics but I will try to explain what I did. First of all, you need a sacrifice bra.
Make sure the adjuster is all the way down and cut where it's sewn down. You only need to make one cut and then you can unloop it from the adjuster. This will be your adjustable strap. (Yes, the black fabric is preventing the underwire from coming out. My bras are CUSTOMIZED)
You will need both of these hoops. Cut them out of the sacrifice bra.
Now you will attach the hoops to your main bra. MAKE SURE THE ADJUSTER IS IN A COMFY PLACE. Once this is sewn on, you won't be able to adjust it any more. I ran over the stitches marked in green twice and then added the hem in blue. Use strong thread that's doubled up. (sorry about the grey strap in place, like I said I didn't take process pics. Don't add that strap yet.)
Once the hoops are secure, thread the new strap into them. The order that you thread might vary, take your time to get it right. It will be more comfortable if threaded properly.
BEFORE you sew the strap closed, try to get a feel for how long it needs to be. I shortened mine twice, it might be shorter than you think. If the strap is too long, it won't do its job of holding your shoulder straps together.
I used a simple backstitch to close the strap, making sure to keep my knots away from the part that touches my skin. This part is the easiest part. Try it on, and if the strap is too long, just cut it shorter and sew it again.
And there you have it! The only possible issue I foresee is that it's slightly trickier to get on. Start with the strap fully loosened and adjust it once it's in place.
I hope this helps some people like it's helped me!!! And if you aren't handy with a needle, find a friend who is!!!
Oooooooo she's gonna get iiiittttt!!!! *waits*
