Received a review copy of Find You in the Dark by Nathan Ripley. “Martin Reese has been finding bodies left by serial killer, Jason Shurn. He sends anonymous messages to the police to tell them the location and to taunt them. He is married to the sister of one of the victims. And that is the person he is desperate to find. But someone is not happy that Reese is digging up the bodies and wants him to stop. And Reese has secrets too...” An interesting premise from Ripley. Reese is a character who seems to be doing good, but has a little creeper vibe. Decent pacing and a different perspective of the serial killer story. Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell was an April #BOTM selection. This is my first book by Jewell. “Ellie Mack disappears on the way to school. No one can find her and the police think she’s just another runaway. Ten years later, her mother Laurel is trying to put the pieces of life together. She meets Floyd in a cafe and begins a romance. She is shocked to find that his daughter, Poppy, looks just like Ellie. And the unanswered questions come back - Where did Ellie go? Who is Floyd? And why does Poppy look just like Ellie?” This is a satisfactory read. You will probably figure out everything as you go along. No earth shattering revelations. Some really jacked-up characters. A good read if you don’t want to think too hard. Needed a change of pace so I picked out The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick. “Arthur Pepper is a widower. Near the first anniversary of his wife’s death, he finally begins to clear out her things. But inside some boots he finds a charm bracelet he had never seen her wear. Arthur looks for the story behind each charm. And begins to wonder if he was good enough for Miriam. Why did she hide her former life? Does he want to know the truth?” This book has a slow beginning, a little bit sad even. But then Arthur gets out and starts embracing his adventure.
