MOTA x Reader Headcanons - Taking care of your Baby for the First Time
Gale ‘Buck’ Cleven:
- I feel like Gale would high key be a pro.
- he’d be so sweet and reassure he’s holding the fort when you go out with your friends. He’d encourage you to go have fun, eager to see you out and about and not cooped up.
- Ik it’s the 40s and traditional roles and all, but I feel like Gale would be more than happy to stay at home with your little one, after all, he doesn’t get to spend as much time with him as you’d like.
- I feel like he’d have it allllll under control, baby would sleep the whole time and Gale would be low key disappointed, he wanted some time with your son, but what can you exactly do with a 8 week old?
- or maybe if he did wake up Gale would be soooo gentle and caring, he’d change your son into the cutest pair of ‘pyjama’s’ he could find, ones that he picked out and are a couple sizes too big.
- like imagine this tiny little thing in his arms, skkekfkek it’s so precious.
- when you return it’s peaceful and quiet, Gale would come meet you at the door telling you that your son is a literal angel.
- he’d reassure you to go get some rest and he’ll be on daddy duty for the rest of the night.
John ‘Bucky’ Egan:
- okay, a little different scenario here, because John has stayed home many of times to look after your baby, he loves it and can’t get enough of being around his children.
- but let’s say you have a 3 year old and more recently a new addition who’s around 3 months old.
- he’d love both his daughters so much, he’d promise them both an ice cream party when you were out. Ofc he wouldn’t tell you this lol (not that the 3 month old would care).
- like Gale, he’d want you to go out and have a good time, maybe you’ve been missing your friends or a little stressed lately? Bucky would be all for you letting yourself unwind (he would be even if you were stressed or not).
- when you leave it starts off chilled and he’s asking his three year old what she wants to do. She’d babble back something incoherent standing literally like five foot (lol) shorter than him. Bucky would nod and agree, even if he didn’t understand.
- he’d deffo have a little dance party, he’d throw your eldest around, play fighting, and only when your youngest wakes up from the sound of the loud music does he realise he needs to tone it down a little.
- “you eat your ice cream, kiddo, just give me 10 minutes.” Uhhh 10 minutes?!
- the overly large bowl of sugary ice cream plus the diaper explosion he’s encountered kinda leads from one thing to another.
- don’t get me wrong he’d be fucking great at handling these situations, but maybe the ice cream and loud music was a bad idea considering both babies are wide awake and it’s hours past their bedtime.
- they’d end up playing dress up at like 11pm, he’s got one baby on his lap, burping her, whilst the other is trying on princess dresses, asking if she can paint her daddy’s nails.
- maybe a little bit rough when your youngest is screaming and the eldest is begging for his attention, but he’d manage, and he’d even clean and wash up after your kids passed out on the carpet in the front room.
- ones on the floor and the baby would be sleeping on his chest, Bucky would almost be asleep too, patting his babies back when you came back through the door.
- super gentle, quiet and practically tip toes through the room to see you and meet you with a kiss.
- “I am so glad to see you, did you have fun?” He’d ask, keeping his voice low as he held the baby, admiring how stunning you looked.
- “yeah, I had such a great time… did you?”
- “oh, we had the best time.”
- “I can tell.” You’d smirk, considering there was still a goddamn Princess hat left on his head that your toddler wouldn’t let him remove without screaming.
Harry Crosby:
- “don’t worry, babe. I got it.” He totally does not ‘got it’.
- okay maybe he does, like this guys an absolutely amazing man and father, you can’t doubt it, but it’s his very first night alone ever with your baby who’s six weeks old. He’s shitting it.
- “ok, ok, don’t mess this one up, Crosby.”
- “It’s just a baby. How hard can this be?”
- gives himself pet talks before he goes to face your baby again, who’s smiling and reaching up to him. His heart would melt, and although it’s nap time he makes the mistake of taking baby out the crib to give him a cuddle.
- Harry thinks it’s light work at first, as nervous as he was before, but the only problem is the baby won’t go back to sleep.
- he’d attempt to put your son in his cot when he gets cranky, but this only causes the baby to cry harder and grip onto Harry. “Okay, not going in there! Got it.”
- this continues for uhhhhh on and off two more hours. The baby won’t stop crying every-time Harry tries to put him, so he literally can’t do anything bcs he’s got this little baby stuck to his chest that only settles when Harry sits down with him.
- “hey, I’m trying my best here!” Harry would mutter, but there’s no malice whatsoever to his tone as he looks down at the baby’s chubby cheeks.
- Harry’s a little rattled, but he makes it work. There’s no surprise when you see baby fast asleep on Harry’s chest, who too is zonked out.
- when you wake him up he acts like everything was sooo chilled, he wouldn’t want to worry you, and really feels the need to prove himself a good father. He wouldn’t need to prove anything, bcs you’re more than aware how perfect he is.
Robert ‘Rosie’ Rosenthal:
- gives off major girl dad energy.
- this guy has it down to a t, ok? Or so he thinks.
- whenever you’d wake up to feed your baby in the middle of the night Rosie would wake up too, he’d change diapers, offer to do the feeds for you, pick out outfits for her- literally the most supportive husband and father you can think of.
- so when a plan to go out with your friends comes up, it’s no surprise that Rosie is all for you going out and having some well deserved fun.
- hold your baby girl and waves her hand to you as your friend drives you away. The sight alone wants to make you run back inside and stay with them both.
- “okay, it’s me and you now.” Rosie would exhale down to his baby, bouncing her gently.
- probably a little bored at first, your baby is just asleep for the first couple of hours. He’s read the newspaper, listened to the radio, he knows better than to wake your baby up so he just waits.
- whilst you’re out he’s also reflecting on the fact that it’s so much more fun when you’re here with him.
- then, baby wakes up, Rosie would low key be so happy. He’d pick her up straight away, tending to her every need.
- he would go to test the temperature of the milk in the bottle, but the lid isn’t screwed on properly so he ends up dropping it all over his wrist and counter top. Oops.
- still, he’d try to remain positive, but now he has to make another bottle and your baby is screaming- he can’t stand her being upset.
- deffo would spoil his kids, not to make them bratty, but he loves them sooo much, lets them get away with alot of stuff.
- finally, he gets the bottle prepared, and he’s so relieved when your baby settles again in his arms.
- “there ya’ go. You were hungry, weren’t ya’?” He’d talk and coo down to the baby so much, eventually humming jazz songs to her as he pats her back on his chest.
- despite the spilt milk incident, when you get back he’s asking you for another six new babies, and would deffo want to get started right away 😏
John Brady:
(Whys this man not smiling in any of the gifs lmao).
- suchhhhh a family man omg, super duper proud that you have twins, like he’s genuinely not stopped grinning ear from ear the second he found out you were giving him twins. Every time he looks at you he’s still truly amazed that you made such beautiful babies.
- he reassures you all will be okay, and you should go enjoy yourself with a kiss and a smile to die for. You look so beautiful, Brady can’t help but watch you as you’re hurrying out to your friend’s car. He offers you all a quick wave before heading back inside.
- when he does he’s realised he’s left with two little babies, wide awake and staring back to him. Uh fuck.
- you’ve both worked together as a team, one baby each, and it’s worked out pretty well, but Brady knows how exhausting it is with two babies at once, maybe now he’s glancing back out the front window as a final look of despair.
- a little worried, but he’s eager to do it so you can enjoy yourself and he can have more time with his two boys.
- “alright boys. You better go easy on me.”
- it’s kinda like controlled chaos. When one baby cries to be fed, Brady feeds him. Then the other baby cries, baby feeds him, but now baby number 1 needs his nappy changing- and baby number 2 just had a blow out.
- deffo gets peed on.
- “alright little guy, how do we get this thing on?” After bathing the one who had the blow out, he has a bit of a difficult time getting the new baby grow back on. Seriously? Why are the buttons so hard to close?
- takes him a while, he’s so focused, eyebrows scrunched and hands working as though it’s an error in the cockpit of his plane- but eventually he does it.
- “hey, look at you.” Brady grins, holding his kid in the air as he smiles and giggles back to him.
- puts them in matching outfits.
- “mommy’s gonna be so happy to see how cute you look when she’s back.” He’d speak to them, sitting down to put the television set on to watch a baseball game or something.
- starts explaining the game to them, one boy at either side of him.
- when you return, you’re thrilled to see both boys fast asleep as Brady smiles up to you.
- “how was it?”
- “I made it work.” He’d grin from ear to ear. A smile would break on your face and John would be so relieved that despite the earlier chaos, they settled right in time for you to come back.
- “Jheeze, I never realised how outnumbered I was with boys.” You’d comment, and that would be Brady’s queue to get everybody to bed as quickly as possible so he can give you a little girl. His fav thing to do.
Howard ‘Hambone’ Hamilton:
- “you and me, we’re gonna have the best time.” He points confidently down to your 7 week old daughter.
- she’s looking up to him with wide eyes, still not really doing much, but certainly crying, eating, sleeping and pooping.
- Hambone has been waiting for the day she can talk (you have to remind him, babe, we’ve got a good 11 months to go yet).
- he’s eager to be with your kid often, considering he works through the week, he spends every spare moment he has doting on you and the baby, even coming home on his lunch breaks to visit you both.
- so it’s pretty chill when he’s looking after your baby for the first time, she’s so easy and just sleeps all the time, but Hambone can’t help but walk past her crib, constantly checking up on her to see if she’s awake.
- also kinda concerned about her so will deffo check to make sure she’s breathing.
- when he goes up to visit her for the 10th time and she’s her eyes open and smiling at him, something she’s literally only just started doing, he can’t stop goofy talking to her before he can’t resist it and just picks his little human up.
- “c’mon baby, let’s go for a walk.”
- takes more time assembling the pram than he does out on the walk.
- he’s soooo attentive, he definitely makes sure she’s all wrapped up and he thinks she looks adorable, seriously he’s grinning and smiling down to her that much that he almost steps off the curb by accident- lol, that’s something he won’t be telling you.
- people are overjoyed to see the handsome father with his baby, but he makes it clear from the get go “she looks just like my wife!”
- when he gets back your baby is asleep again, so he doesn’t dare move her, he just carries the whole goddamn pram into the front room and sits beside it, pushing it back and forth every now and then.
- when it comes to soothing her, lets say she’s hungry or just awoken from her nap, he’s sooo soft like omfg, you wouldn’t expect it, this rugged looking man, cradling her so gently and swaying her. When you walk in on him like this your heart would melt.
- best believe you’ll be trying to make more as soon as possible.
