Taking care of braids.

In the past I would just have my braids in and not take care of them. After going fully natural this summer, I know that that isn't going to cut it at all..

Now, I realize I have to deep moisturize at least every two days as well as wash every two weeks and I can't keep them in for longer than necessary like I used to do.

Of course, now I need new products! My intense moisturizing leave-in conditioner is too heavy for my braids. I need something light and oily that I can spray and that's good for my scalp, because I've noticed some flaking (it might be my shampoo.)

Hopefully, my braids will last longer than they had. They're so itchy. I'm trying not to scratch though! I want them fresh for school in ONE WEEK :)

Spray It

Want more tame curls?? Well moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I’m still transitioning so I am not fully a curly but my kids are, so to prevent breakage and split ends I can’t go easy on the moisture. I spritz everyday with my own mixture of 3/4 c aloe juice, 1/4 c glycerin, 1/2 c water, 1/4 c coconut oil and almond oil. Then I use Hello Hydration by Herbal Essence on the ends followed by a little Carols Daughter Margarita Magic or Hair Milk. If they are spending the day in the sun I add Shea Butter. I keep my children’s hair braided so I don’t know how this would be on loose hair. I would use it on braids or twist for a braid out or twist out. We also wash 2x a week with V05 moisturizing conditioner or HH conditioner. More if we went swimming and we deep condition every time. We wash once a month with shampoo.
