They’ve known each other forever. But honestly, the first impression of him is probably from when she’s three or four. And she thinks he’s mean because he has a toy that she wants and he won’t give it to her.

Text: And you don't take the help when someone offers which is frustrating. And as for Sebastian and Ryan, they seem to be more family to you than I am these days. So like I said, I'll stop offering since you already have people you're close to and who you can trust more than me.

[text] You offer for some future point because that way it’s my fault when I don’t take you up on it. I’m not gonna be the bad guy in this story, Braiden. And I’m not gonna let you make my friends into the bad guys either.

Text: And I have been trying! But every time I do it's always "Well that's what Kaidyn's for" Or "Sebastian this" or "Ryan that". I can't help that I wasn't around, Amy. But even when I try to be, it's like you don't want me to do. Sure I took Charlotte to the zoo. But that was one time. Big deal.

[text] Let’s talk about how I don’t ask for help. How I’ve never asked for help. Or told anyone when I needed anything because that’s not the person I am, Brai. You know that. Don’t act all surprised by it now. I mean jesus, I stayed with your parents for like 3 months because I didn’t want my dad to help pay for an apartment in the city. 

[text] I push because that’s who I am and because people leave and it’s easier to have that wall up. And don’t even with Sebastian and Ryan. They’re my family. Just as much as you are.

Text: Like you haven't been a bitch to me lately? Every time I talk to you it's always like this so I don't really know why I keep trying. Like you said, I haven't been around so why should I be all of a sudden.

[text] When you talk to me lately? You mean when you text me because you’re upset with me or something else? And you haven’t been around. It’s the truth. Cody wasn’t around. Shay wasn’t around. Kaidyn wasn’t around. Those are facts. Whether you like them or not. 

[text] You try becasue we’re family, jerk.

Text: Well that's great to hear, Amy. Forget I even offered then. I'm sure she'd rather go with someone like Sebastian and Ryan before me anyway. So I'll just see you guys around or at holidays or something.

[text] Now you’re being an asshole. She loves you too. But you weren’t here and she’s a kid and that’s just how life is. She’s closer to Sebastian than she is Kaidyn too because they were here. 

[text] Obviously I don’t care when she spends time with you. I mean you took her to the zoo for christ sake. 

[text] And I’m not gonna pretend or tiptoe around you and try not to say things that piss you off because that’s not how family works.

Text: No. I just thought I'd offer but I understand that's what Kai is for.

[text] He’s her dad, ya’know?

[text] And I know it’s hard for you, but there are people here who she loves and who I almost always go to first because they’ve been here and you haven’t. Which isn’t to say that she doesn’t love you, but ya’know.

Text: Right... Well just keep me posted then.

[text] You’re annoyed because I’m no jumping for your help?

Text: Good, i'm glad to hear that. Let me know if you need anything, okay? Even if it's just some time to yourself and I can take Charlotte for a few hours somewhere.

[text] That’s partly what her dad’s for. But I’ll let you know if I need anything.
