What are the chances that Jinu and Rumi's dad knew *of each other* and ended up getting connected to a mother and her daughter through fate?
Makes it all the more bittersweet
I find it interesting that High Valyrian is one of the languages that does not distinguish between blue and green and you need other context clues to figure out if the word "Kastor" and its variations refers to blue or green ("Kastra" is plural, and "Kastor" is singular) . According to scishow in this video this is actually really common for other languages and it got my brain overthinking about Alicent's gown progression before the iconic 🎶green green dress 🎶(sorry I can't help but make a tick tick boom reference).
This recent gif set by @elena-gilbert has got me thinking about a few things (all gifs used in this post is hers originally. It is from this specific post).
I may be reading too much into this but having learnt that its interesting that whenever we don't see her in Targaryen colors, she's wearing blue. In the Valyrian perspective, she's already dressed in her house colors long before she expressly declared war through the green dress. But since the common tongue does distinguish between green and blue (essentially the in-world term for English) in the Westerosi perspective she has not yet aligned herself with her house.
As a matter of fact there's only one instance wherein she wears green before the iconic green dress.
And that's when she first consoles Viserys under the orders of Otto. But the green here is not vibrant. Rather its dark and I think is probably the darkest shade of green Alicent has ever worn on the show (including the gowns Olivia Cooke wears). It's so dark that it almost looks like a black gown. This is the start of Otto's plan to position her within the circle of Viserys. And its a messed up reality that she herself is reluctant to do it knowing the subtext of what her father really wants her to do. She doesn't want to do it, but yet she has to for the sake of her house. And at this point its a burden to her.
But that's not the interesting part that my brain latched on to.
There's no denying that red is a Targaryen color and in the early days of her marriage to Viserys, we see Alicent wearing gowns with the Targaryen colors of red and black.
Symbolizing that she has married into the Targaryen family but we all see that she still feels alone with Rhaenyra becoming ever more distant from her and her being more performative with Viserys under the orders from Otto. Its also in these moments that she tries to regain what once was with her relationship with Rhaenyra by doing all she can to help Rhaenyra. Like taking her side when she tells Alicent that she and Damon did not sleep with each other, and reminding Rhaenyra that she has the choice to choose her husband, something which she didn't have.
When Criston Cole confesses to Alicent that he's the one who slept with Rhaenyra, Alicent is wearing royal blue. While it isn't the darkest shade of blue we've seen her in. It's a deep vibrant shade of blue that couldn't simply be mistaken for black from afar.
She knows something is up, and it is in this color that we see her betrayed. As much as she tries to fit in with other Targaryens she has always been seen as an outsider. A Hightower already wearing "Kastra" colors despite joining the Targaryen house. She doesn't completely understand their ways, or perspective. She was just a pawn to produce children for their dynasty.
And then we arrive at the iconic green dress scene.
The first time she willingly wears the color green to declare political war against Rhaenyra. She is wearing her house color in both Valyrian and Westerosi perspectives. And unlike her first night consoling Viserys, because of its vibrancy, no one can mistake it for black from afar. Its interesting (for me at least) that it is by supporting her children who are Targaryens that we get this moment. In English/the common tongue in order to make Green, Red and Blue must be united. Alicent at that point onwards mainly wears green. And yet she wouldn't need to do so if she didn't support her children's claim within the Targaryen dynasty (her parenting skills are another matter entirely but let's stay in topic).
Which is probably why George RR Martin made Rhaenyra's faction "The blacks" the other Targaryen color (or shade if you don't want to call black a color).
But yeah I'm probably reading too much into this.
what if i literally made a friend? if NASA can do it so can i weebs
They tell me "slow down girl your about to get hurt."
But I don't listen and I keep driving.
This highway is filled with pit stops and indulgences.
I wouldn't be human if I could say no to them all.
The universe has these blinking caution signs, but it's fine.
"I'm strong enough for this" I sigh, as I drive past those 'road closed' signs.
The rain has been falling down, down for a while now.
The floods have already washed away what humility I have left.
I'm just left with the breeze in my hair, and the storm in my chest.
I can't slow down, I won't slow down.
My path is almost set from the gods, and their divinity is my cage- just like your eyes.
With each step I grow colder, but I become stronger.
With the goddess of battle behind every word, I know my actions have weights attached to them.
Though I doubt it matters much, since Ragnorok is at our heels.
I've been whispering the "end is near" for I don't know how many years.
It's come to swallow us all my friends.
Suffering now means dying without regrets later, and I think I'll take that.
What ever becomes of us, I'll see you in the next reincarnation- next world.
Who knows who we'll be then.

Hey so— ya know the term “CrackShip” referring to an insane, very uncanon, and often fandom crossover relationship?
Yeah… is there a version of that for like— found family relationships?
Asking for a friend of course—
Ya know, when I went to see The Barbie Movie, I wasn’t expecting the message of “you have the right to live because you exist.” And if you excuse me I’m going to go cry for the rest of the week-
