Brainstem AVM animation 1: Steps for resection of arteriovenous malformations (AVM) in eloquent regions of the brainstem (anterior pontine arteriovenous malformations). Anterolateral view of anterior pontine AVM medial to the trigeminal nerve, with arterial feeders from the basilar artery, superior cerebellar artery, and anterior inferior cerebellar artery, and a major draining vein to the superior petrosal vein complex. The feeding arteries are cauterized and divided circumferentially. Arteries en passage and the draining vein are left intact, but feeders contributing to the avm are cauterized.
