It’s a shame because the truth is Ian has been having his cake and he isn’t fond of sharing. His on and off ‘relationship’ with Nikki is not only a secret from everyone, but he’d agreed would not be serious. — So why does he feel a hint of jealousy prickling his gut?
“ —shit, yeah?” He dips his straw a glass half full with cola. “I can talk to him; maybe he’s going through something and he’s being an awkward dumbass. I noticed he’s been weird too”, he grimaces with concern, leaning in, his voice dipping as though they’re sharing something none should ear: “— you know how he is, he’s a closed up kind of guy. He won’t say what’s up unless I ask.”
